My favourite exchange of the whole movie: Dude: Fuckin' Quintana... that creep can roll, man. Walter: Yeah, but he's a pervert, Dude. Dude: Yeah. Walter: No, he's a sex offender. With a record. He served 6 months in Chino for exposing himself to an eight year old. Dude: Oh! Walter: When he moved to Hollywood he had to go door to door to tell everyone he was a pederast. Donny: What's a... pederast, Walter? Walter: Shut the fuck up, Donny. Jesus: You ready to be fucked, man? I see you rolled your way into the semis. Dios mio, man. Liam and me, we're gonna fuck you up. Dude: Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man. Jesus: Let me tell you something, pendejo. You pull any of your crazy shit with us, you flash a piece out on the lanes, I'll take it away from you, stick it up your ass and pull the fucking trigger 'til it goes "click." Dude: Jesus. Jesus: You said it, man. Nobody fucks with the Jesus. Walter: Eight-year-olds, Dude. I use that line...The "Eight-year-olds, Dude" line at the most random times in everyday life.

Weezer's Raditude
ccf23 replied to alex_madf3rit's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
I gave up on Weezer after Make Believe...Well, I gave the Red Album a chance and was underwhelmed. It was better than Make Believe by far, but it was nothing I'd choose to listen to over all the other music I have. It was really average to me. I may one day give this a shot, but it'll always be judged against the Blue album (mostly) for me. That album was great. Green album was decent (songs like Hash Pipe and Island In The Sun are what Weezer should've continued to morph into to me)... -
Am I The Only One Up For Another Straight Rock Album?

It's hard to tell where Matt will go next because he can do so many things so effectively. It's hard to pigeon hole him into what's coming next. He can do the straight up rock and roll thing as witnessed by most of White Light, he can do the over the top wonderfully meticulous masterpieces we hear on Avalanche, he could easily do an acoustic folk/blues record as witnessed by a lot of his recent acoustic demos and some of the guitar work on songs like Champions (the solo is so bluesy). He could easily do something personal along the lines of Hospital Music. Hell, he could even probably pull off a country type record of songs like Empty Road and I'd eat that shit up. -

I love hearing Black Helicopter live. Too bad he didn't play it at Vancouver night 1. The guitar in the chorus is so good live. -

Josh almost has a crooner quality to his voice. I love it. It works. It's unique for the style of music he sings. There's a lot of diversity on this album. You can definitely hear the Queens influence on songs like Dead End Friends, but it doesn't sound exactly like a Queens album. Songs like Elephants have such a Zeppelin vibe to them, and something like Gunman is totally out of nowhere. They did a great job on keeping the album original, I think. You can hear the influences of the sum of the parts, but to me it never sounds stale or repetitive. The guitar work is masterful, too. There are SO many catchy hooks on this album. It's wonderful. -

Yeah, but as a musician with such a passionate core following, isn't it kind of a compliment that people want to hear your more rare stuff? I mean, as a Pearl Jam fan, as good as Black or Jeremy or Even Flow is, they've played that shit hundreds of times. I'm sure it's more fun to play something like No Way or Smile or something like that and it's probably a compliment to hear "play that rare shit" instead of "HAY PLAY THOSE HITS WE ALL KNOW THE WORDS TO BECAUSE THEY GOT RADIO PLAY". Don't get me wrong, there's a place for the hits too, but I guess it's in how you look at it. Matt saw it as people being unhappy with the performance or whatever when really I don't think any of us were unhappy with the performances we saw...It was great to hear the new stuff live and as much as I'd rather hear something like Failing The Rorschach Test or Raygun instead of Apparitions, I still had a blast. It's natural, though, Matt is one of my favourite artists...I've listened to every album front to back numerous times...Of course I'm going to want to hear some of the stuff I haven't.

About halfway through No One Loves Me when Josh says "UGHHHHHHH" and shit gets real. That's the exact moment you know this album is going to be balls to the wall fucking epic. -
The Vancouver show of the last 5 or 6 tours? I have a horrible memory when it comes to concerts. I need to document it before I forget.
-
Yeah, that's why I'm assuming what was posted here by Matt, and his follow up on his blog has to be fueled by more than just what was said in this thread. I mean, fuck, Pearl Jam is my all time favourite band, but I could find something to bitch about with them, one of their albums, one of their shows, whatever. Just because I said this tour didn't rank up with the last few to me doesn't mean I still didn't enjoy it and still wouldn't go again in a heartbeat.
-
Where did this all come from, though? If it's merely from this thread, it's a little extreme. There has been a bit of whining, but for the most part most of what's said on here has been fair from my point of view. I'm led to believe he has to be receiving emails or something that is putting him on edge, because if it's nothing more than this thread it's way extreme.

I agree with this almost 100%. The only thing I can disagree with is the number of songs. Matt has a number of "longer" songs so where most bands will fit in 2 3 minute songs, Matt has 1 - 6 or 7 minute tune. Great post, though. -

Yeah, I mean I had a good night, and I understand that when you hire a band and they have to learn the songs from scratch you're going to be kind of limited in what you can play. I suppose in that sense I'd say I prefer the acoustic format now. I'll never get tired of hearing Weapon live, though. Ever. That song is great. There's bound to be bitching about the setlist. What someone played/didn't play, though. It's natural. -

I was pretty underwhelmed tonight, honestly. Having been to the Vancouver shows at the last 5 tours now, I just couldn't much get into the setlist tonight. Also, there were WAY too many assholes in the crowd just yelling in the middle of songs. "Oh it's the quiet part of a song? I bet the whole fucking crowd that paid good money to be here wants to hear me yell like a moron"...I get it once or twice, but it was constant throughout the night. -

That asinine, though. As much as variety from an artist is nice, it's a little extreme to say basically "oh well it's wonderfully diverse to go from writing dark hard rock to writing shitty R&B". Sure, he can decide what he wants to sing, but that doesn't make it any less shit. It's like if Matthew Good put out a gangsta rap album. -

They closed down the spectrum in Philly recently. The last of 3 shows was 3 and a half hours long and they played (I believe) 42 songs. -

The Foo's are predictable to me, though. A lot of their stuff sounds exactly the same, especially their singles. Acoustic Kurt Was The Best Kurt My interest in Nirvana has waned to the point where I hardly ever listen to them anymore, but that Unplugged album is still one of my all time favourites. -

I'm aware of that, but Chris Cornell is not an R&B artist. As much as you enjoy the album, and I'm happy for you with that, it's a horrible, horrible piece of music.
