Soundgarden Reunion

It's not the wind machine alone. It's the wind machine combined with the cornucopia of other bullshit that makes that video and song make me want to puke. -

But dude, Timbaland is so rock and roll...I mean look at this dude, he screams authenticity: ...and the album cover, Cornell is such a rock star OMG HE'S SMASHING A GUITAR: ;) How you can go from something so brilliant and raw like this: To something so overproduced and pretentious as this: Scream Is mind blowing. I mean look at that fucking video for fucks sake. THE WIND MACHINE BLOWING HIS HAIR. WHAT THE FUCK CORNELL. START DRINKING AGAIN YOU FUCK. Trent Reznor put it pretty well when he said -

So awesome, isn't it? This album will be DRIPPING with authenticity. So unlike most super groups. -
Am I The Only One Up For Another Straight Rock Album?

In Utero and Unplugged in New York are both better than that album, but whatever. Also, I'd say Dave's greatest accomplishment is Songs For The Deaf. That album is fucking incredible and the drumming on "A Song For The Dead" is just insane. -

New teaser up. "Gunman". Such a cool sound... On a side note, anyone else have buffer issues with youtube? The first time that video loads it buffers a couple times even though it shows more of the song is loaded than the part it buffers at. After it's finished and I play it back it's fine. -

Picked up mahgeetah and learned Poor Man's Grey and Been Awhile Since I Was Your Man for kicks. Also, Ghrol is infinitely better when he's behind the kit as all the Nirvana records, Songs For The Deaf, and most likely the upcoming Them Crooked Vultures album will attest to. -
1. (Rooms) 2. On Nights Like Tonight 3. Weapon 4. Raygun 5. Hopeless (This one was incredibly hard for me) 6. Bank 7. Big City Life (not that fond of either) 8. Metal Airplanes 9. Flashdance II

I've given up hope on Cornell after Scream. Fucking hell. -
I've seen CAKE live. I expected them to be very good, but I didn't expect it to rank with the best concerts I've seen and it did. It was at a fairly intimate venue and they were just so tight and good. I'll see them again every time they come to Vancouver. Such an underrated band.

I'm listening to WLRARR and I know this is kind of the bastard step child of his solo albums, but it's been too long for me since Matt released a straight rock album like this. Put Out Your Lights/Poor Man's Grey/We're So Heavy are such a great 3some to open an album. It's obviously not as complex an album as his others, but I can't be the only one jonesing for another rock album from Mr. Good, can I?

Champions/HOSAM followed closely by: Pledge of Allegiance/The War is Over

I completely disagree. Despite the fact that the same beat loops throughout the entire song, I feel it actually adds to the song considering all the layers it has. The strings, the guitar, the multi layered vocals, the tambourine, etc. I find the drum beat almost hypnotizing and I think it works very well. The one thing the song aches for is that Matt vocal moment. You know the one. The chorus in Avalanche, "I'm just a boat on the ocean, I'm just a ship lost at sea" in WWWHR, "Hallelujahs..." in Champions, etc. I love Empty's and it's another great example of MG's mastery of the longer track, I just kind of find myself waiting for that "wow" Matt Good vocal moment we've become accustomed to in his 7+ minute songs.
-
Matt is so good at the epic 7+ minute song. Empty's Theme Park just flows so well from the haunting strings building into that incredibly catch drum beat/guitar. 5:20ish into the song is exactly the kind of transition that makes his longer tracks so good.

The guitar work on this album is fantastic. One thing I'm disappointed in is you cannot hear the crowd singing along with any of the songs. I'd figure you'd be able to hear it in particular with the "hits" such as Time Bomb or Apparitions. Being at the show in Vancouver that was one of the best parts of the show was hearing the crowd sing along. I don't know if it has to do with the recording or the fact that the crowd at this show just wasn't all that loud.
-
Stupid fantastic live show has ruined it for me, specifically the way Matt sings the last 30-45 seconds of the song: Champions - Clicky The quality is pretty bad, but you can get the idea..."To Process the rivers..." and on. Whenever I listen to the studio version now I can't help but think to myself that that's how the song should be sung. Anyone else agree? Edit - Damn, that title looks weird...Meant it to be CoN. Should have put Champions instead. I can't edit it, can I?
-
That was an absolutely fantastic post and I'm surprised no one else has commented on it.

On Nights Like Tonight and SAITT are both wonderful. I've enjoyed all the demos he's put up that I've heard, but those 2 are my favourite.

So...uh...if it's cool...I'd uh...love to hear this too if someone...could...uh...PM it to me I'll buy you a strawberry sundae!
