  1. That's great, thanks!
  2. I just wanted to comment on this because I completely dissagree. I think Advertising on Police Cars, Tripoli, Sort of a Protest Song, and Man of Action are all in Matt's top 10 for sure for me. Not to mention Carmelina, Truffle Pigs, and The Rat who Would be King, which are all some of Matt's best work.
  3. I was going to start a separate thread in the music in general section, but I figured because it's part of the tour I'd just ask here......Does anyone have video's of Mother Mother from this tour? After hearing them (for the first time) I was quite impressed and have since purchased their CD. I'd like to have a few more live video's if people have them - from Hamilton would be especially cool.
  4. Sorry this isn't a MG question, but it has to do with the tour.....kinda. Mother Mother played a song at the Hamilton show that I'm trying to find and can't seem to. The lyrics were somthing about mistakes in the past being Ok, and knowing the mistakes in the future will be Ok....Ok...Ok...... The guy on the saxophone did an amazing job - it might have been the only song he was used for. That's all I got. Can anyone help me out with the title?
  5. Ya, his St. Johns Ambulance story was pretty good. I was actually hoping he would talk more, it's always either very entertaining or very informative. I'm surprised he didn't talk more after the responce he got from the crowd when he asked if we wanted to hear his story.
  6. Matt was amazing as usual in Hamilton. The opener and closer were clear highlights. And just to comment on Odette, I've always been a huge fan of that song as it really shows off Matts voice and his capabilities and was very happy to hear it as a closer. Also I felt Silent Army, Load me up and Weapon were great points of the show. He's never dissapointing.
  7. As much as I agree with what was just said, THis type of show would be amazing from Matt. I would definitely pay double for something like that. And it would be tough to pick the two albums, but I'd probably say Audio of Being and Avalanche.
  8. I just watched X-Rated and I think I was smiling the whole time. Fucking sick! For only rehearsing it 3 times it sounded great! .......fucking sick....fucking sick. God I hope he keeps it in the tour.
  9. That's hellarious that Matt singled him out. I bet he didn't expect that! And good for Matt. We all know he will speak his mind when he's dissrespected, and rightfully so. And I'm gonna be another person to say it's sweet to see So Long Mrs. Smith and Future is X-Rated in the set. I haven't heard X-Rated live in years.
  10. I remember those days. So sweet. However, and I've said it before, we have to enjoy this album live as we may never hear some of these songs live again. A few years from now we'll be talking about how we got to hear -------- live and how lucky we were - and probably bugging Matt to put it in his new setlist.
  11. I think a lot of Matt's songs talk about what people want in life, but yet we screw it up though our humanistic ways. Quite often complaining about the way things are but yet we as a majority are the cause of the problem. Devil on Rollerskates said it well with a search for or missing something real, something better. Someone else also mentioned the fact of it showing hawaii, LA, Coquilam, it doesn't matter where you are/go, your outcome will be similar wherever you go.
  12. I've heard a lot of negative talk about North American For Life in the past on here as well, and always really liked that song. I think every time I listened to that song I would wonder how so many big fans didn't appreciate how good it is. It's a perfect example of typical sarcastic writing from MG combined with a killer beat and sound. Same type of song as Everything is Automatic in my mind. Glad to see people talking good about it. I'm not the only one!!
  13. 1) Advertising on Police Cars 2) A Long Way Down 3) Vermillion 4) The Rat Who Would Be King 5) Empty's Theme Park 6) Blue Skies Over Bad Lands 7) Lulliby for a new world order 8) Hello Time Bomb (the american version is the best) 9) North American For Life
  14. I've heard it a few times live. I'm pretty sure he opened with it for quite a few shows. Great song to start a show with, and great song live.
  15. 1) Generation X-Wing 2) Man of Action 3) Deep Six 4) The Boy Come Home 5) Running For Home 6) Devils in your Details 7) Giant 8) 99% Of Us Is Failure (album) 9) Haven't Slept In Years (Raygun)
  16. It wasn't one of my favorites untill I saw him sing it live at Massey Hall. The ending he does live really makes the song and has made the song a lot better in my mind. I think because of the live performance I even like the album version a lot more now.
  17. That's awesome. Definitely supersizing ambition.
  18. These videos are great. I really love the new stuff live. It's right up there with when I first heard Avalanche stuff live for the first time. Great Whales is so great live. And that video of On Night Like Tonight from the Vancouver on the 10th is amazing.
  19. I think the bottom line is that none of us wanted or ment to offend Matt or his work in any way. We have our opinions about what "we" think would make something he did better, and we gave our imput to what we'd like to have added/taken out etc. It did get negative and extremely repetitive and it understandably annoyed him. I am pumped to see the new stuff and I don't care if he doesn't play anything else. I still enjoy hearing ALL the radio hits (even the ones I've seen every time I've seen him) and if I never heard them again I'm sure at some point I'd miss them and wish that I could. Sure I love when he puts in some older stuff that we don't normally hear (you know we're all super excited when they start in concert), but it probably would'nt be the same if he played them all the time. We'd probably want more radio hits if he always left them out live. The last thing we on here would want is for Matt to stop doing what he does, or to think that we're unappreciative of his work or his performances. I think it's time to drop this thread.
  20. 1) Massy Hall Album itunes 2) Everything is Automatic 3) We're so heavy 4) She's in it for the money 5) Alabama Motel Room 6) I miss new wave 7) Anti-pop 8) 21st Century Living - extremely close 9) Truffle Pigs (rooms) - extremely close
  21. There's some recordings from the tour on youtube for those who haven't seen them yet and want to. Just type Matt Good in the search bar then click on uploaded this week.
  22. I think this time will be #22. I thought I was crazy. 50 times, now that's crazy. The Kee to Bala shows were some of my favorites. Hope to see him there again in the future.
  23. It's a great song. Kinda seems like one of those songs you hear nothing about. I think it got voted out of our little elimination thing we're doing on here by Vocanoes. I actually had to listen to both songs back to back before I voted. I love Volcanoes, but I had to vote for little terror.
  24. I've got a friend who is the lead singer of a band. Every time I come out to one of his shows he is appreciative. If he knows I'm coming he'll even somtimes ask if I have anything I'd like to hear. He too is an artist. Maybe not a John Lennon or a Bod Dylan or a Matthew Good, but damn good if you ask me. He does it because he is an artist, and because he loves it, and because he wants to share his art with other people. If his art was only about creating something because he can, or because that's what he was put here to do, he could do it and be perfectly content to keep it to himself. However, I'm pretty confident that if a huge amount of people paid money to come see him and supported him through purchacing his music I'm sure it would be pretty life-changing because of them. I know that if through that support he could have the lifestyle and freedom that comes from being a successful rock star he would be eternally grateful - as would only make sence. So instead of waking up early 5 days per week and going to work at his job at Sears and working extra hours with a jack-ass for a boss just so he can pay the bills for his wife and son, then practice with his band on his days off - when the rest of the band is also able -, he could practice when he wanted. He could create a website and take time to write long posts about his thoughts and opinions...when he feels like it. He could choose when to go to work and when to just stay home, when to write or work on his true passion in life. But the fact is that most artists, even great ones, don't have that oppourtunity. It seems almost moronic to bad-mouth some of your biggest fans that are simply stating thier opinions about a performance. Even more so to write a long post on your own website stating the un-importance of those that purchace the music in comparison to what it takes to keep that "spark required to create" within yourself. We as fans may not be owed anything for supporting his work, but I'm pretty sure if the roles were reversed most people would be thankful to those that brought them to that position in life.
