In addition to using seldom-heard words, I also like doing things like repurposing nouns as verbs. ie. "Go math that up" instead of count it or whatever math-related task it is.

The festival itself, it wouldn't cost me anything to get there. A 4-day ticket is $140, individual days are between $40 and $50 apiece.

Haha I get people like that at my work all the time, too. 'Course, I work in a liquor store, so many of them are also alcoholics. Still amusing though.

Yes, I've been golfing before. And it is far from being difficult enough to be considered athletic by any stretch of the imagination.
-
But that is simple douchebaggery as well.

The fact that it requires skill doesn't mean it's a sport. Chess requires skill. Sports also need some semblance of athleticism. Golf is not a sport, it is a GAME.

Looks like I win by default. I'm not missing that. EDIT: This just in - I had no idea a hippie-plagued folk fest would be so damn expensive.

The longest I was ever grounded was when my dad caught me smoking pot... the original sentence was 2 weeks, but he stopped caring and revoked the sentence after 4 days.

I just use my mind to will the vehicle where I want it to go.

The man clearly knows what he's talking about. I work out nearly every day. I run to and from work, so when I work out it's all about weights. I really enjoy it; I don't understand why some people abhor it so much. It's one of my hobbies, and it is a very good use of time. I can't stand the machines; my workouts are based entirely on free weights and bodyweight. I recently benched 1.5X my bodyweight, which is a pretty big milestone in my progress.

Rye and coke. Or rye and any other soft drink.

A degree is a scale degree. All chords are formed from scale degrees, with a major chord being 1 3 5. (the scale degrees 1, 3, and 5 are the first, third, and fifth notes in the appropriate major scale, respectively.) In this usage degree and note mean pretty much the same thing, as long as it is taken to mean the whateverth degree/note of the scale of the key you are working in. eg. A major scale - A(1st deg) B(2nd deg) C#(3rd) D(4th) E(5th) F#(6th) G#(7th) Its just a bad way of organizing it, and unfortunately it became the standard. Whether it is a full or half step depends on which note it is in the scale. As for the 7th chords, you are right about Em7 and A7. This aspect of musical notation is really just silly, so I understand the confusion. If a chord is a Major 7 (like the two in the quote box), it has a natural 7th degree. If it is a Minor 7th, (like Em7), a dominant 7th (like A7) it is a dominant (flat) seventh. A7 = A dominant 7th = 1 3 5 b7 = A C# E G Amin7 = A minor 7th = 1 b3 5 b7 = A C E G Amaj7 = A major 7th = 1 3 5 7 = A C# E G# Amin/maj7 = A minor/major 7th = 1 b3 5 7 = A C E G# Does that cover it?

Well obviously. That's why I'm here, to waste your time.

Haha I love FSM, it's so clever and irreverent. Makes some excellent points concerning creationism, as you mentioned. The hate mail is fantastic, too. "Please watch what you say, your blasphemy is pleasing the devil. Do you really want to spend eternity in hell where there will be weeping and knashing of teeth? The devil is using you as his vessel to mock the Truth so that you may discourage people from believing in it in order for that you and others may be eternally damned. Whee! Religion is such a crock. Particularly Christianity, as they (at least the ones i've met) take it waaaaay more seriously than anyone else.

I was at the UofC this year for a chemistry degree (which I hated), but I transferred (and was accepted) to SAIT for the Automated Systems Engineering Technology program (2 years). Basically what ASET is, is designing and building industrial and manufacturing automation (robotic machines that build shit), sort of like the machines on the show 'How It's Made', except making those machines. Yep. Just thought I'd share, it took me a very long time to figure out what I wanted to do.

That was unexpected. He always seemed to me like a lost child in a nice suit. Who knew?
