  1. damn, that's too bad. I understand the position a pet can put one in (i once had to pay the mortgage with an osap loan because of my cat Puss). I'm sure you won't have trouble getting rid of 'em.
  2. i've talked with Student Union representatives, and apparently they definitely honour Alumni... so if you're a graduate, technically, you should get in. I would call ahead to confirm, though.
  3. i dunno, all together seems one of the weaker songs in the mg/b catalogue. It never sat right with me. it goes wrong for me in the vocal delivry near the end, too awkward ('and i been wonderi hi iin, what went wrong). Dusk is a far better song, in the same vein
  4. watchmen- brighter hell. just imagine that quiver 'hold up crazy one, I know what you're thinkin... 'cause i's not looking great right now..' the.end.
  5. if you mean the second semester of the 05/06 year, then he should be cool to get in (and bring you!).
  6. OMFG I MIss New Wave, to be sure. I think he could tear apart Failing the Rorshack Test, as well. Let's here him just pound the strings. I hope he get's sloppy. I'm floored that he's playing my school, Sheridan, in Oakville ON. I've myself in turn performed and hosted a monthly open mic in the same room he'll be performing in (our Pub/'Recreation Centre'), so the experience will be that much more intimate. Matt's music was one of the reasons I picked up guitar, and definitely a huge inspiration to writing music as a means of working through anxiety, in order to function a little more adequately from day to day. Anyhoo, we're in for quite a treat this spring.
  7. Not caring is way cool. "Mmm, I don't care for (x-band/musician/whatev) because other people do. That makes me cool, right? That makes me cool." meh, whatev. It snowed for the for the first time today in the GTA. Seasons Greetings (w/o the card, of course). See you at the show (even though I've, like, seen them WAY too many times to count (tee hee!)!!).
  8. White Light Rock And Roll Review isn't dumbed down? No, it isn't. Dumbed down and simplified are different concepts. For example, what at first seems a simple statement like "you don't need to fly to understand it, just understand understanding" proves (at least to myself) to extrapolate upon itself, more powerful than half of the avalanche album. MOre with less in some instances. Yes, there are straight rockers, but i certainly wouldn't call any of the tracks 'dumbed down.'
  9. You can't judge a band by it's fan base. I love my chemical romance and i am the total opposite as her. And look at how many complete idiots we have on a Matthew Good message board. Are we going to equate MG with idiots now? For the most part, emo music isn't marketed, it's too underground. There hasn't been one huge emo band yet. It just so happens a lot of emo fans are douches. HAH HAH HAh, sweet deal! Straight up Homeslice. Werdd.
  10. True, there is definitely some Thrush left in the Emergency. Joel's acoustic version sof Thrush tunes are quite incredible as well (Before you Leave is a favourite). Circle C-- I tried finding a copy of that like 3 or 4 years ago, to no avail. The hunt must resume. Any tips/leads?
  11. Why so much WLRRR hate? It was a natural progression from Avalanche, a big deep breath with precise, inspired comment. I couldn't have asked for a better album. That one-two punch at the start, rolling straight into We're So Heavy... I can't really encapsulate the impact of this album with words-- I'm just in awe every time i listen to it. It's rare when an album can inspire every.single.time it's listened to. 'hey, i've lost too many years to this i walk behind the crowd and pick up the garbage that was our future without memory that made the children of the system we created and then forgave...' at least he didn't go Metric-style and dumb it all down.
  12. Tom Anselmi is inspired. Copyright's end left me with the same empty feeling that Thrush Hermit left. Anyone remotely interested should check out thier first proper album, Love Story. It's Gold.
  13. fucking REDICULOUSLY creative. Such insight. So prolific.
  14. Students from the Animation program at Sheridan created the video over the summer, WITHOUT PAY, I might add. They put a LOT of time and creativity into it. I be proud of them.
  15. I find North American for Life unnecessary, and awkward. I don't really get why it was reworked at all; it's always seemed such an off-the-cuff comment, not something that belongs on this, a VERY contemplative retrospect of sorts. The songs generally convey a mood provided by the imagery on the rooms dvd: that of matt standing at a window lost in thought. My girlfriend made an interesting comment, 'No wonder it's called In a Coma, he sounds asleep!' Does anyone else sense the lack of passion on these recordings? I'm not shooting down the album by any means, there are some real gems, such as generation x-wing, tripoli, prime time (even though i still disagree with the abrupt octave change during the first verse)... but i don't need another acoustic version of strange days or apparitions, and hello time bomb is a real stretch. The bass-y warble intro to truffle pigs threw me off immediately, it just felt awkward (still does). Fucking love Generation X-Wing, easily the most successful on the album. I can't wait for the next record. Fingers crossed for summer/ fall '06.
  16. Sept 20 mg/in a coma Sept 27 metric/live it out constantines/tournament of hearts Oct 4 BSS tangiers
  17. Fucking.Love the Cons. I recall the first show I bore witness to... It began in the small basement of a community hall, and ended with the bassist worming his way through the crowd on his back, the ceiling panels visibly shaken. I also recall taking my pops with me to a show, and afterwards, beings somewhat embarrassed as he attempted to convinvce the drummer that 90% of unexplained deaths in the Washington, DC area can be attributed to the government. He was watching too much CNN at the time, I think. God love those moments. August 20th @ Lee's Palace, TO $15 people! and that includes the talented Oneida and Oakley Hall.
  18. When matt's through bringing them to thier knees, what does he say as his voice carries off into the background? It sounds like, "whoa-oh, fuck off.." At least that's what i've always heard.
  19. Anyone catching the show Sept 12 @ the Docks in Toronto?
  20. They're currently working on the follow-up. I hear sometime in the fall. Either we're gonna be blown away, or wondering why they still sound the same. Thier debut was a solid effort because it was so cohesive, but that same-ness can get stale if it carries over on to the next record. I wanna hear them kick it up a notch and fucking rock.out.
  21. yeah, the last album was wanting... I think thier success was timing more than anything. How can you not think back to the canadian music scene in the late 90's and not think of them? I don't think they're hungry anymore, so uninspired. Producers can only do so much.
  22. I actually tried listening to ther first album a few nights ago. It's unlistenable. I think ryan's dad helped him out with lyrics... and they're all about nothing. My friend has had a few conversations with the former drummer (apparently his father is faculty @ George Brown in Toronto, so he gets a free ride). When asked about the band, he pleads not to discuss it. Ironically, he himslef feels it was all a mistake.
  23. These comments are idiotic. His lyrics need an overhaul? Listen to yourself...
  24. I dig it because it has that hollow 50's/60 sound to it. I visualise the colour green with black. But those lyrics just throw me off. I
  25. Great track, but: we'll i like it here /cause nothing seems impossible/and i need to know that's possible/maybe not before/but i'm not so sure anymore ;) i think this track was likely written either just before or right after song for the girl. cause nothing seems impossible, and i need to know that's possible--maybe not before... but i'm not so sure anymore. hmmph.
