i really like this version, better then the ritter version.

They're really different.

 

I think the way Matt plays it gives it a way darker feel than Ritter's version.

it actually is up there but i've delinked it since mg doesnt actually have the clearance to play it yet (so im told).

well, as far as my understanding goes, you don't need permission to cover a song unless it's for an album. playing songs live isn't a problem.

though I could be wrong.

I would hope MG knows when he can and can't play a song and when he's allowed to put it on his own website....sigh i'll just keep holding my breathe until it's back up...

Yeah, I don't think you need permission to play a cover live, just if you're going to release it and make money out of it.

I'm not sure about that actually. I think it might only be if you plan on recording it and releasing it commercially.

look up mechanical licensing in canada. if you distribute a cover, even if it wasn't by the artist, someone is liable to pay the original composer for it's use. playing it in a concert falls under that category as well. you don't necessarily have to release it comercially to get sued.
