And that's why I hope the new record is alt. country a la 'Empty Road' and 'Hopeless' that would be something else!

If it's going to be like those songs, I'd rather wait for a new Jesse Harris album. I think Jesse Harris is much better at alt-country than Matthew Good.

don't they know that matt hates Rico and Indestructible and a bunch of other songs? they're just a bunch of asses who want to get drunk.

i think background checks should be done for concert tickets ;)

I completely agree that Matt Good should open a new page in his life artistically and primarily focus on modern material. But the problem I see with this is that his later material is extremely lackluster in comparison to anything MGB related.

But I guess he is 35 years old (or something) now and doesn't want to write edgy songs but rather act as the stereotypical rock n roll musician.

That's awesome. I wonder how 'out of left field' it's going to be?

Like Yasa said, though, he loves music, and thats what music is all about.

I look forward to this new music immensely.

"Good is unsure if he will tour the record in the US or not"

I like this sentence... alot. It gives me a shread of hope. Although I think Matt's follow up remarks about "being arrested" are a little melodramatic. He might catch flack, but contrary to popular belief this isn't communist China...

Chomsky, Zinn and co. have been doing it for years, and they're still at large

cool article, thanks for the "link?" lol. Hopefully the new stuff will rock as much as the old stuff. Maybe with this new interest in slower acoustic stuff, he could go take a ride in the way back machine and bust out some of the old folk stuff? - I dont' know about you guys but"heathers like sundays" acoustic/live? that would be amazing.

edit: also i live in america so its not like i have a choice. it is a shame he hates the politics here so much it prevents him from playing music here.

He just played a show in Buffalo. And I'm sure it's not the politics that prevents him from going to the States more often.

I'd like to see him live one last time playing it all, and ill be happy. He keeps playing 19+ shows, but he if plays one after september 2006 then I can go, so i wont care. One last go would be nice but eh.

personally, i'd find it infuriating to have to live up to a reputation i'd built for myself ten years ago. he's just a human being too; you can't blame the guy for growing and expanding his horizons as an artist.

i have confidence in him and am excited for the new release.

Well it was mostly MOGs (Middle Aged Guys (30-ish))

Since when is 30-ish middle aged?? Ouch! And isn't Matt himself like 34 or something? Middle aged is when you hit your 50's or later.

Sincerely,

Miss 32 going on 33 =)

MOG's is a term in the advertising industry that defines a demographic. So it is slang.

And I didn't mean any offence. It just comes into talk since it is so widely used in my industry.

And no, I personally wouldn't say early 30's is middle aged. I'd say 35-45 is middle aged, considering the average life span is 70-80 years.

i totally agree with that, and id pay whatever price tag was necessary.

i cant stand when the audience generally loses focus during some of matt's lesser known songs.

those people only came out for the hits, but i came out for whatever the hell matt chooses to do on stage and ill love it regardless.

Meh, it's good news and bad news. He never really played the songs I wanted to hear anyway, so it's cool that I won't have to sit through Buffalo Seven again, and if Can't Get Shot is on his newest album, that will be wonderful, and I look forward to seing what he'll do.

And really guys, we can't blame him. I wouldn't wanna play the same goddamn songs for 10 years either.
