I really dislike seeing greatest hits coming from artists that I really really like. What does it mean, or what are they thinking (in terms of the direction their careers are going to take) when they release one of these? How often do you see artists who release compilations like this go on to make more great music? I hope Matt keeps on going!

radiohead.

volume one: pre-pretentious coffeehouse art rock

volume two: you listen to radiohead so you can look down on people who don't.

I'm curious as to how the ads work. The ads at the bottom are for MCR stuff, and the only MCR reference in this thread is the selection of lyrics in my sig. Interesting....

A complete R.E.M. collection for once. U2 might be a good band for a "complete" collection as well. Throw in Depeche Mode there. And The Cure. Yes.

i do not like greatest hits albums. I'm getting Inacoma for the bonues tracks and cds and dvd (drool).

I always feel cheated when I get a greatest hits album as a gift because I want a real album. Then i just end up with some useles copies of the same song.

Sloan's greatest hits album is good. Their singles are great but I find that they rest of the albums are lacking. Singles compilations are good for the drinking/singing along to.

IME.

But Greatest Hits Compilations are disgusting.

Unless an extra cd is added with never-before-heard songs and an additional DVD with videos and commentary.

I Mother Earth already has one.
