So this happened last year and now all the files are being digitized.  There must be something pertaining to Matthew Good Band in this collection.  I really, really wish MUCH would do something like this with their archives, they are totally uninterested in using music related programming anymore, let alone archival stuff.  But there is some seriously amazing things they must have that could be so enjoyed by the music fans out there.  Sad to think this kind of thing just rots away.  Anyways hopefully the EMI archive will have some interesting stuff in there.

Parts of the collection are expected to be made available to the public through a partnership with the National Music Centre.

I didn't know this was happening in my city. I think I will pay a visit to the National Music Centre and see if there is anything Matthew Good related. If the University of Calgary needs help or is looking for volunteers for preserving the audio-visual recordings, I would be all over it. It would be so interesting. I would love this kind of work.

I apologize for digging up a thread from 8 years ago.

I happened to stumble upon the EMI Music Canada Archive on the University of Calgary’s website today. I did a search of Matthew Good Band, and they currently have 64 items in their digital collection.

From a quick glance, there appears to audio rough mixes and demos from 1996 to 1997.

It may be worth checking out!

You may have to login or register for access to features like Lightboxes and Ordering. I have not registered yet.

Here are instructions on how to access the digital collection, in case anyone is interested:

Quote

The EMI Music Canada digital collection provides access to the corporate audiovisual records from Capitol Music Records of Canada and EMI Music Canada, covering the time period 1949-2012.

Researchers can search and browse by artist or recording, view images of carriers and preview short clips of recordings. If the media has not been migrated yet, you can Add to Cart to prompt a digitization on demand request. Due to copyright restrictions, researchers must request access to listen to or watch full-length recordings. After reviewing each researcher’s request, Archives staff will enable streaming access to specific content for a specified duration of time.

side note:  I noticed in the University of Calgary Gazette newspaper that the Matthew Good Band played at Max Café & Bar on March 28, 1998. Interesting. I did not know that.
