I didn't hear kickass right away. there's a lot of mysteriously opaque/white noisey parts in matt's music. to this day I'm not sure what is said in the middle of avalanche, or before and during the outro for antipop.

what DOES he sing in the outro of antipop?

and does anyone know what the lyrics are for the extended

version of suburbia??

all i can make out is:

lay down sleepy head..

the doctor's are confident..

but i could be wrong..

also..

my friend was in my car and hello time bomb came on.. and he'd never heard it.. or at least he didnt recognize it (i assured him it was a very popular song in canada in 1999).. anyway.. during the part where it goes

"dirty enough i got me a love and its so bad"

he was like "wtf.. did he just say:

dirty enough like hot meat loaf.. its so bad"

haha ever since that.. i can actually hear matt sing it like that.

Not so major, but I thought it was:

"Dirty a love, I got me a love and it's so bad, it's so bad."

All i know is that some girls in the background chant "Anti-Pop" at the end. That's all i can make out. Heh heh make out.

Sweet, I'm sleepy

It feels like the real thing

The doctors are confident the pills always win

Its like constantly travelling

But you don't feel a thing

And the parts of you forgotton are all unearthed

My contributions are lame but:

From Going All the Way: "And all this ahhhh beauty is just decay" (and all this "our beauty" is just decay) [personally i like mine better]

From The Future is X-Rated: "Now christmas is for shopping and shopping got us everything" (and now christmas is for shopping and the shopping god is everything)

From Everything is Automatic: "This kind of machine only takes quarters. You ain't soldier." (This karma machine only takes quarters. New age soldier.)

From Apparitions: "The rat in your brain turns to me. I'm connected to your guts and all your falls are in me." (The rat in your brain turns a wheel connected to your guts, and all your faults are in me.)

I still can't understand what he sings in Big City Life.

EDIT: I didn't realize thi spost was from 2004 whne I posted it. Oh well.

From the 2004 tour version of Big City Life, this is what I've always heard:

Caught your eye you are my streetlight,

Throw off your blues and use your red and whites,

And wave to caution your days and nights,

And you're wandering, wandering, wandering,

Carolina was a gambler,

So she came into the city,

And there she died when she was 21,

'Cause big city life is fun,

Caught your eye you are my ???,

Throw off your blues and use your red and whites,

And wave to caution your days and nights,

And been wandering, wandering, wandering,

Carolina was a gambler,

So she came into the city,

And there she died when she was 21,

'Cause big city life is fun,

'Cause big city life is fun,

Carolina was a gambler,

So she came into the city,

And there she died when she was 21,

'Cause big city life is fun,

'Cause big city life is fun,

'Cause big city life is fun.

I forget, are these lyrics in the In A Coma booklet, I'm at work and my copy is at home. I think ??? is bellatina.

Thanks,

Dan

I thought it was:

Amber waves to caution your, days and nights.

During Anti-Pop, my "boyfriend always hears "You're not Matt Good" instead of "You're not my girl" - I really don't know how he hears that one.

Also, originally I heard "You could sell the sad the world tonight" in Flash Dance II when the real lyric is "You could sail beside the world tonight".

Ha, to this day, I thought "Deep six, come to bed, goodnight and take care"

and the typical "Taco Bell Shoe" from Avalanche.

OH AND I used to hear "Mother fucker went #1" in North American For Life.

I just found out this today:

Everything is Automatic:

WHAT I THOUGHT: Got a machine, it only takes quarters

ACTUAL LYRICS: This karma machine only takes quarters

Heh...up until you posted that, I thought it was "You can sit beside the world tonight".

Not much difference but whatever ;)

In "Lookhappy it's the end of the world"

Even though I had the lyric book, I would swear that he sang

"I've got a PAIN machine, it's black & blue"

When it is really

"I've got a BIG machine"

"I'm not myself but somehow i'm still being here." Truffle pigs

I always heard "here" instead of "him"

I like mine better.

I'm totally sure he changed the lyrics. I heard "him" on In a Coma, said to myself "what the eff?", listened to the AoB version and time after time heard "here."

I think matt's screwing around with his lyrics, that wiley fox.

Have you guys ever listened to a song and then think the lyrics were one thing, and then be completely shocked to find out you were wrong. Here are some lyrics that I always heard when listening to MG.

Avalanche - during the whisper part "taco bell shoes"

Hello Time Bomb - "push in push in push till it hurts" when it should be "push and push and.." i just thought "in" made the song fit the sexual context of the video..

Running For Home - "so low for how high it's too late too die" (so low for how high it's too late tonight)

Symbolistic White Walls - "i have a sidekick shes says im lovely.." (i have a psychic she says im lonely)

Suburbia - "baby if i was into men you would be mine" hahah i always laugh at that one (baby if i was in demand..)

from suburbia, if I was into men.....I had the same thing lol.

nf has the wrong lyrics posted for flashdance II. its not you can sail beside the world tonite. its you can sell the sad, the world tonite.

i'm sure the taco bell shoes thing has been beaten into the ground (i only found out the real lyrics today and it makes me giggle)... but i always thought he said "I'll tackle god's shoe"...

I think you're right. It is "amber waves to caution your days and nights". Makes sense, don't it?
