  1. Wow, I can't believe it took me so long to find this! I'm listening to it all now, and so far I am digging it. I didn't know you were so talented ;) Hypothetically, if I did drum tracks for these, and sent them to you, could you put them on? They wouldn't be amazing, because at the moment all I have is a rndom iPod recorder attatchment, but it could cool to get a feel for them. Edit: I finished them. They're good, but you need some solos! Shred that thing!
  2. Its got a good tune/feel to it but every time I hear it, the lyrics make me cringe. Its painfull really. Compare this to some of his earlier work and its night and day. He could have at least veiled the meaning in a metaphor or two. There's that newest song though, I think its called Metal Airplanes. The one that everyone is losing their loads over. I can't even listen to it. Definately gets my vote for worst song he's written and its up against Song For The Girl so thats saying something. I really hope it doesn't make the cut. Dude, not every song needs to have a deeply veiled, metaphorically obfuscated meaning. She's in it for the Money is an amazing tune, and the lyrics are fine for what they are. That said, Metal Airplanes has some extremely cliche lyrics (you know it's true/there's nothing I can do. *cringe*) and I really don't like the song. But honestly, the album is looking great so far, and if there's one song on it that I don't really like, whatever.
  3. You're fucking a nerd!?!
  4. I'm listening to the Nelly Furtado cd and feeling kind of guilty about it. But so far I'm liking it.
  5. Jarrod: it's never too late to learn. I just started like 2 years ago, very casually, and recently I've gotten very heavily into it, actually getting talented, etc. Seriously, just sit down and have fun. The cool thing with drumming is that it's hard to get worse, as long as your practicing isn't like, directly aimed at ruining your timing or anything.
  6. That's really shitty, but I'll be damned if that tune isn't catchy (the one he stole).
  7. Well damn. I guess your fascination with crazy physics stuff equals my own. CHeck out the other link, it's quite good. It's a cool documentary all about string theory.
  8. Another Day in Quicksand - In Flames
  9. Jamie's Cryin - Van Halen
  10. My dad has one, but since I haven't been there in a long time, I don't know his code thingy. Next time I'm over I'll figure it out.
  11. you mean in general with his drumming, or your friend sent you the song already? In general. As I said in my first post, and shade mentioned, he changes time signatures a lot.
  12. 8/10. Cute.
  13. Is more chill than a polar bear in a freezer.
  14. Barenaked Ladies - Same Thing
  15. Sigur Ros - Andvari This band is sooooooo good.
  16. Heh, sadly I can't play it (my music converter thingy expired), but I'll get a friend to send it to me sometime soon and give you the full drum review. Edit: Yeah, AoB hit the nail on the head: it's the timing. It's very...unorthodox in a lot of places.
  17. Is another Ryan. SHould have a battle to the death with the other Ryans for our love.
  18. I don't have the song (feel free to upload it and I'll give it a listen), but I can make a pretty safe guess that it is quite complex. Danny Carey's work is very, very impressive. Edit: To expand a little, he uses a lot of shifting/metamorphic time signatures from what I remember (not unlike John Bonham), which makes learning individual parts relatively easy, but incorporating them into the main groove very difficult.
  19. Has a carousel of love.
  20. Oh yeah, I know that. Have you seen this? http://www.tenthdimension.com/flash2.php Also, if you have a large chunk of time, this is amazing as well... http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/elegant/program_d.html
