What the hell? Are you guys crazy? Annabelle is terrific!
-
That's bizzarre, considering the CD is supposed to be iTunes compliant. Are you running the latest version? I really don't know what to tell you. As for the burning thing, just check your settings and make sure that you're not burning a data or mp3 CD. just select "Audio CD". If that's what you already have, then again, I have no idea. Good luck...

I whole-heartedly agree. His early work is brilliant, everything from Go Fly Blind to Push, to Euphony, to Mercy Misses you, to The Ocean... I wish he'd put some of that folkier stuff onto his newer records, the closest we've really gotten is Empty Road.
-
Whoa! I always heard "the skies dazzled me" too! And frankly I like it 1000 times more. The disguised as a bee line is the only 'bad' one in that song. It kinda ruons it for me. But 'the skies dazzled me'? brilliant.

...who has a filthy mouth. (but it makes his mom proud.)

Yeah, Poor Man's Grey has such a cool riff, and the part where he's like "there's heart and then there's hate/if one of them's inside of you, the other one it ain't." is so cool. But then he goes and ruins it with all his stupid city naming. Almost reminds me of that 'global DJs' song if anyone knows what I'm talking about. (it's this horrible dance tune with some robotic chick voice naming various popular cities.)
-
Yeah, a copy of that version of Can't Get Shot in the Back would be very sweet.
-
Every Name is My Name isn't THAT bad... At first when he's just talking about shit, it's kind of stupid, but near the end, when he's melodically singing the "every name is my name" part it's bearable. Plus the whole little story he's telling is kind of cool.

For me I'm going to have the say In a World Called Catastrophe. The tune is decent enough, but the vocals and lyrics are so repetitive and they just seem to drone on forever. Ditto for (and I know I'm gonna catch a lot of flack for not liking this one) The Rat Who Would Be King. Very few songs make me skip tracks as quickly as these do. Coming Out in Purple is also messed up, but it's also unique, so I can't hate it completly. I also used to hate Umbrellaless, but now I actually kinda like it. It's funky. So what Matt Good songs do you despise and why?

...unless it's Hello Time Bomb ;)

Breath of a Nation-OK, nothing great Song for the Girl-Don't like it one bit ;)
-
Uh, it pretty much already is an acoustic man...
-
Meh, it's good news and bad news. He never really played the songs I wanted to hear anyway, so it's cool that I won't have to sit through Buffalo Seven again, and if Can't Get Shot is on his newest album, that will be wonderful, and I look forward to seing what he'll do. And really guys, we can't blame him. I wouldn't wanna play the same goddamn songs for 10 years either.
-
It would also be nice to hear a version of Can't Get Shot in the Back that isn't either A) Live or B)Very very shitty in sound quality, as the song is quite good.

Yeah the Avalanche thing is honestly impossible to understand. I don't think they're actually words. The Hot Meatloaf thing in HTB is hilarious, but it really doesn't sound like it. For Advertising on Police Cars, I always heard it like: "Hey Mr Chips, how's the wife and all the kids? Still poison? Do you still eat them?" Which still makes sense, but I guess the actual version makes more, which is: "Hey Mr Chips, how's the wife, and are the kids still poison? Do you still eat them?" Still, I like my version better. Seems cooler. Also, does anyone know what the first line is to the extended version of symbolistic white walls? It goes: Something something your nights and days You close em up and float away and somehow in between you gotta master lying to yourself Your master (bathroom?) calls, get out of school You get a job, a job gets you And somehow everyday you end up serving somebody else Well then it kinda gets your feelin well (?) you damn well better start You can drive it into that head of your with the hammer in your heart. There are a couple parts in there that I don't get. Anybody know what he's saying?

Carmelina, obviously! Anyone who's heard him play it live right after Life Beyond the Minimum Safe Distance would agree. It's gorgeous.

Tragically Hip Songs

No love for Pigeon Camera? That song rocks! -
I just saw Message to God and Before You Go, but no Jangolier, William Sits in Avalon or Full Moon in Pisces... Heh and I'm sorry if I sound kind of noobish, but I havn't been using these boards for long. I will say that it's awesome to find people as fanatical about Matty as I am though. Other than this, I've never been able to find people who had even heard his older stuff (like Parable, LotGA and all that amazing stuff) much less who appreciate it for the work of art it is.
-
Has anyone heard the version of Carmelina he's played Live directly after Life Beyond the Minimum Safe Distance? It's beautifuland I really would have enjoyed it on IAC without the obnoxious crowd banter. Also, Symbolistic White Walls with the extended verse, just cuz the lyrics are awesome.
-
Yeah, I absolutly LOVE his old stuff. More than the stuff he did in MGB actually. The acoustic songs like A Better Pain and Folk Singer are just beutiful. And the one Rodchester King song I managed to find ("Message to God") is frigging amazing. Are the other songs from that tape even 'around'? I mean, has anyone heard them?
-
IAC was friggin awesome. The only thing I would have liked that was not included was a few more acoustic re workings, most noteably Carmelina, as he's played it acoustic at concerts before, and it's beautiful.
-
There's so much great stuff. The Ocean, Parable, Euphony, Push, Casual Walks, Go Fly Blind...
-
WTF? How can Casual Walks be so low? It's probably in my top 10!
-
That's a shame, because the lyrics are simply incredible. Ah well, maybe he'll do it some day... EDIT: Oh, and thanks a ton for all the help and info guys. ;)

Tripoli, Generation X-Wing and Apparitions were awesome. The new version of North American is just....different. I think I prefer the original. I hatethe Hello Time Bomb remake. It's SO slow and boring. That said, my vote went to Advertising, which is simply sexy, though Tripoli is a VERY close second.
