Symbolistic White Walls, but man that was hard. Everything is Automatic Ugh! Oh man oh man....uh...Running for Home Near Fantastica

Heh, I can't tell if that's sarcasm or not, but I'll say 'thanks' anyway. Oh and there's a few typos/mistakes but for some reason I can't edit them, so just ignore em`. A key thing I loeft out near the bottom is that he's CHOSEN to forget. He doesn't want to remember, as it goes against the fundamental way people think about themselves and their conflicts. In a way it kind of reminds me of a book called "Illusions" by Richard Bach, if anyone's read that.

Let's all get drunk with Yukon Cornelius and sing "Silver and Gold!"

Alright, this is one of my favourite songs, and I've thought a lot about the meaning, so here's my interpretation: Mutes they like to protest, to dissagree between the lines where the mass majority hide People all buy into the same bullshit, and the only people who disagree are those that are deprived something essential, those who are painfully excluded. And on the news it's like Mardi Gras, every night with their shirts off to shine your ears and eyes Media circus, no real information, it's all just entertainment and stuff. See SARS scare, shark attack summer, african killer bees etc. To 'shine your ears and eyes' means to basically tell you what you want to hear in your middle class suburban neighborhood, and not real news about places outside your country or realm of awareness. In a restaurant booth I cut my tooth on pictures of our sable justice, but given the facts who can't relax? So easy on death... The restaurant booth is kinda just filler think, but he's relating the experiance of realising for the first time that 'justice' is 'sable' (usually meaning dark.) Furhtermore, we're given the facts, we all know it's bullshit, but we don't care. It keeps us happy and consuming and ignorance is bliss. Here's the important part: Love ain't somethin I remember, trust ain't somethin I afford no one, lately I remember to forget Can't get shot in the back, if you don't run. Here's where it becomes largely self interpretive, and here's my stance on it: The "love ain't something I remember , trust ain't somethin I afford no one" speaks of a past conflict. A time when someone was hurt by something, and they've kind of lost faith in others. "Can't get shot in the back if you don't run", to me, means that everything negative that happens to you is the result of something you did. If you weren't a coward, if you didn't run, you wouldn't have been shot in the back. Maybe if you weren't an ass in your relationship, you'd still have your woman, and still remember love, and still be able to afford trust to people. You would never be betrayed unless there is a reason for betrayal, correct? This is prefaced by "lately I remember to forget", which shows how painful this thought really is, to think that we are the cause of every betrayal and hardship we have to endure. And so lately he's forgotten and gone with the "big bad world" view, instead of taking self responsibility, as most of us do. The second verse is pretty much a re hash of the first, with him saying that his "fate lies with someone" other than himself, which is untrue as stated by the chorus, but this is a dissillusioned song about regret, as far as I see it, so the bitter sarcasm is perfectly welcome. The character has forgotten that he can't get shot in the back if he doesn't run, and so his fate lies with someone else, and there's with him.

Oh, so this is where this thread was. Just one little nitpick: Do you have Can't Get Shot in The Back? As it wasn't present in the download for me. Thanks for everything.

Thanks a ton. I knew there was a prior topic but I just couldn't find it. Thanks again.

I recently bought the Uninvited Guest interview off of the NF store, and all the songs are cut out! Tripoli sounded like it was gonna be awesome! ;_; What gives?

Haha, that's so true! And because of this many extremely lonely male neighbors are dissapointed.

Heh, an excellent point. Though usually, we don't have music or TV or anything on, so as to hear someone coming home and be able to throw ou clothes on as quickly as possible.

Just a note to whoever said that the Fog was an orignal idea out of hollywood: It's a remake of an old film from the 70s or 80s (a la the Manchurian Candidate.)

Hahaha, nah. She just realises its a dumb term and I don't degrade her in any way by using it. If anything, she gets more upset about me calling it something other than "making love." Every other time we do it, it can be called "sex" or "fucking" or pretty much anything, but talk about the first time that way and you get a "Baby! that wasn't sex, that was making love!"

Wow, a bunch of toughies... Blue Skies Over Badlands Running for Home (This...was...so...hard) Born To Kill Everything is Automatic

Yeah, David Usher has a lot of heavily sexual lyrics. I think it's in "Jesus Was My Girl" where he gos on and on about how "fuckings over but I can't stop coming." Also, he does the same thing on Morning Orbit, if I remember correctly. The intro to "Trickster" is frigging gorgeous, and then the lyrics kinda make you do a 180 and be like "wth?" Personally, I like David Usher. He has more than his fair share of crap, but the good songs he does are really really good. Some examples are St. Lawrence River, Forestfire, Tomorrow Comes, Blinded etc etc. And as for the "breaking her in" terminology, that is, in essence what you're doing, unpleasant or not. She's too tight for good sex, so, like a good shoe, you have to "wear" (screw) for a while before things get comfortable and enjoyable. It's sort of objectifying in a sense I suppose, but honestly, that's what she calls it too.

All That You Can't Leave Behind is a brilliant album. I actually saw a U2 show earlier this year and it was excellent. They are very, very overrated, but they're still an excellent and tight group.

heh, we've only done it to that CD once, so I don't really know, although I'm sure it could be done relativly easily with a bit of restraint. It's just because it was her first time, my mission (and here comes too much information again) was to 'break her in', so to speak. It really wasn't an enjoyable experiance for her, as it hurt her a lot. So basically, I wanted to get to the point where she was broken in to the point where future sex would be more enjoyable, but not really wanting to push it any longer than it had to be for that purpose. And Load Me Up felt about right. In retrospect it should have been a bit longer, as it wasn't until the 4th or 5th time (about 2 weeks later. lol) that she really started enjoying sex as opposed to it being painful and unpleasant.

I sing Haven't Slept in Years a lot in the shower for some reason...

Beautiful Midnight is awesome. The first tiem my girlfriend and I did it we played that CD. It was her first time, so I wanted it to be good, and it really worked. Giant starts it off at a nice slow pace for easing it in, then Hello Timebomb lets you have some fun, Strange Days lets you be romantic and slow, I Miss New Wave....that was my favurite. Something about it just amde it hot. It's slow enough that it's easy to hold off blowing your load until Load Me Up (when you start pounding) but like...dark and atmospheric enough that you can give it some push. Sorry if thats too much info for you guys.

I concur with Apocalyptica being awesome. Another very good band, which may be a little tamer is Sonata Arctica. They have the faster power-metal type songs, like 8th Commandment, but also slow piano ballads like Draw Me. In my humble opinion they excel at both, though they have their fair share of shitty songs as well. But check em out-I don't think you'll be dissapointed. -
^ exactly A micky is generally about the size of one of those hip flasks you see, and a 26er is substantially larger, with a 40 being bigger still. Just walk into your local LCBO and check it out-even if you're not 19, it's not a crime to go inside and look around. The drinking age only governs BUYING booze, not looking at them.
