Also interesting to note about Normandy, although the USA often gives itself much credit for winning Omaha beach and 'turning the tide of the war', that is not exactly how it went. The 'Germans' at Omaha were actually Czech conscripts, mostly poor, little trained farmers. The elite Germans squads were at - surprise, surprise - Juno beach, and whichever the Aussie beach was (i can't remember its name). Also, both the Canadians and the Aussies took their beaches quicker, and with less casualties. The USA did literally nothing in WW1, and all it did of use in WW2 was fight Japan in the Pacific theatre, which may as well have been a totally different war. Unfortunately, american students are taught that they saved the world in not one, but BOTH world wars. When really, they did just about jack all. The war in Europe was over by the time the USA dropped the bomb on Japan, and they really didn't help much in Europe when the war was still going. The country that is overlooked most in the winning factors of WW2 in the USSR, largely due to the cold war anti-communist dogma. There is NO CHANCE the Allies would have won the war if the USSR had not switched sides. Even if it had become neutral after leaving the Axis, the Allies still would not have won. The USSR was absolutely imperative to the allied victory in WW2. And i don't even wanna get started on the Vietnam war. Let's just say that the entire war was manufactured by the americans (they were executing terrorist bombing activites in both NV and SV to escalate the war), and both countries wanted to be communist. Pretty much anything that has ever been portrayed in movies, TV, and most textbooks about Vietnam is totally fabricated. I did a report on Vietnam last year... it's very interesting stuff. In Vietnam, the name of that war (in both 'sides' of the country - note that there really were no sides, as everyone hated the Americans and everyone wanted communism) is "The War Against the Americans to Save the Nation". I imagine there's an abbreviated version in Vietnamese... thats pretty unwieldy. ;) There are many, many errors within this post.

It's utter garbage, and yet another example of how MuchMusic plays anything except music.

Parliament isn't supposed to reflect the national popular vote. Each riding sends one person to Ottawa to represent them, regardless of how slim the margin of victory is in that riding. I would argue that we should keep the same "first past the post" system, and ease up on the strict party discipline to make MPs more accountable to the voters.

Hmm, not a long story, really. The UK chapter of MPH decided it was cheaper to have poor kids in China or somewhere make the bracelets rather than unionized workers in the UK. -

So the US, France, Germany, Russia, and all the other countries that have rid themselves of monarchy have no culture? Get a clue. Furthermore, the history of the British Empire is really nothing to be proud of being associated with. Yeah, we should know and understand it, but Canada, like most industrialized countries, should be apologizing for its history and looking to build a future. Specifically, a future without institutions that symbolize privilege, autarchy and imperialism. pwn3d... -

Does anybody have the ability to invite people to use it? And if so, could you invite me? ;)

It didn't "happen" to them. The Libs are corrupt. They brought it on themselves.

Of course no one is perfect. But doing some good things doesn't cancel out rabid corruption.

Parts of the Constitution would change. But I can't see how the Charter of Rights and Freedoms would be affected in any way. -
Yeah, funnelling millions to their cronies in Quebec is great management.

The situation in Africa is such that the AIDS epidemic causes roughly the loss of life equal to a Tsunami per week, but then again getting AIDS is their fault right? Thank God the USA is funding all this abstinence education because that sure does help people from giving into carnal urges, and does a hell of a lot more good than a pack of condoms and some real humanitarian relief. Well, I do believe conceptatives should be made available, but you can't deny the best way to stop the spread of AIDS is abistinence and monogamy. Carnal urges? People aren't animals. We don't go around shagging each other because its just our instinct.

He tried that last year, too. Congress restored most of the funding. This likely won't pass. -
Invaded by the UN or, barring that, a coalition of countries that care about protecting individuals whose governments' oppress and starve them. International food aid is diverted directly to the military and political elite. The number dying annually in that country warrants military force to remove the government. The world has been talking to North Korea for over 50 years. Nothing will come out of the current six-party round of talks, as in past negotiations. Chamberlain found "peace in our time" talking to Hitler, remember? Lives were saved. ;)
