  1. The NDP is no longer holding the balance of power. Me thinks they're in a weaker position now.
  2. Matt: What if the Conservatives get a majority? As a Liberal, will you still offer the same praise to a system that let's politicians "get things done." Governments should be constrained as much as possible. Any action it makes should be extremely slow and deliberate.
  3. More like Bareback Mounting. Zing!
  4. So, if the Tories come two or three seats short of a majority, who thinks a few Liberals will cross the floor?
  5. So, the Supreme Court of Canada ruled in 2002 that the gov't couldn't take away convicted criminals' right to vote. Just wondering what other people think of this. From media reports, it seems that many have voted Liberal, to keep the Conservatives and their tough on crime agenda out of power. Personally, I'm not sure if they should be voting... criminals have been removed from society for a period of time (or their entire lives) for violating Canadian laws. Should we really give them a voice in electing those who will influence the law-making process? I'm not really so sure.
  6. Nothing wrong with clean, hard body checks. But cheap shots and hits from behind, etc, should be severely punished.
  7. I'm no fun. ;)
  8. You realise that immature stunts like drawing swastikas on campaign signs (a) reflects badly on those who can intelligently criticize the Conservatives, and probably helps take possible supporters away from your side, and (b) is deeply insulting to people who actually suffered under real Nazis. My two cents.
  9. Then explain the movement in Europe to erase national borders and unify the continent under a single constitution?
  10. If the Senate isn't elected, then perhaps senators shouldn't receive taxpayer money... they should be there voluntarily.
  11. How can people demand we intervene in some humanitarian crises like Darfur or Congo, but not others such as Iraq? Isn't there a bit of inconsistency there? (Personally, I have no particular opinion... I'm still kind of conflicted.)
  12. So don't legislate mandatory voting. That has nothing to do with what I was suggesting...
  13. The Aussie Senate is working just fine. Not sure where you can get off saying it doesn't. And, I would prefer if one party controlled one chamber, and another controlled the other. They would have to compromise, and no single party would be able to foist its agenda upon us. Finally, I personally love to vote, so again, not sure how you can assert that people wouldn't like to vote for the Senate. It'd just be a second box to check. lol. Heaven forbid.
  14. This was once an important issue for the Reform Party, but I haven't heard anyone talk about it this campaign. Do you think more people would come out to vote if the Senate was elected, and had an equal number of seats for each province? The Australian Senate could be a good model, in my opinion.
  15. It's interesting that the provinces with the lowest turnout are perceived to be the ones that are already decided (ie/ the Libs will sweep Ontario, and the Cons will sweep Alberta and the prairies.)
  16. Not recently, though. Namely War of the Worlds, AI, and Minority Report. And the Terminal.
  17. I don't think Kim Jong Il is dumb enough to use a nuclear bomb. He would have to be an idiot not to realise it would mean the end of his tin pot regime.
  18. The thought of a Toronto-centric Canada makes me sexually aroused.
  19. I'll give you five bucks for a small one. ;)
  20. I saw several people with large In A Coma posters outside in the line up before the doors opened. Any idea where they got them?
  21. I'll be the guy shouting for "Flashdance II" all night. EDIT: Oops
