that's the same problem I have with the situation. It's all well and good that people are opening their wallets for this disaster but why don't we try and fix some of the more pressing matters while we're at it?

in regards to the queen/king having no power in canada...technically we still need the governor general to sign all our laws. yes it's a figurehead, but still.

if the green party were in control I would leave the country. Their ideas are good, but they would never work in such a large country. The NDP would bankrupt the country, Bob Rae did it in ontario and the NDP did it in BC. they have no idea how to govern effectively. and it is literally impossible for the Bloc to form the government because they only have seats in Quebec.

The French Republics were based on the U.S. system in the late 1700s, but I would hardly say that all other democracies are based on the Yankee model.

Wow. Yeah, I never considered that but thinking back a lot more of the stories on the news or in the paper are about the few people from Canada that were there instead of the fact that 150000 other people died. Well, to a certain degree anyway. the reason the number of Canadians killed was always mentioned is that it helps to put a more personal spin on the story. If people can relate to some who were killed it will make them more willing to give money. sad but true.

I've been staying away from the gym lately just to avoid the new year's crush. stupid assholes don't show up on time for their machines (you can book them at the school gym in Guelph) and then kick me off when they get there 20 minutes late...bastards.
