  1. Apparitions just came to mind
  2. I don't care if this is double-posting. It's not my fault no one's posted here in the past few hours. ;) Matthew Good Band - I Miss New Wave
  3. Zip and rar are convenient ways to keep files together, since you can't download a folder. I haven't seen anything better. Solo, side-project, same difference. ;)
  4. I almost think Rooms would've sold better on its own than part of In A Coma. Besides that, there are only 2 new songs on IAC that are new, so some people aren't going to buy it. The bigger fans already have the material, but most of them probably bought it for Rooms anyway. Hah, so maybe it was a good idea to put them together. Casual fans get all the Matt Good they want and if they choose to buy the 2-disc, they see a glimpse of his deeper side. I suppose it was due to marketing, but I don't think a greatest hits is ever going to sell as well as an actual album.
  5. Tell me when and where!!!!! Edit: Fark. I found it, but it's the one night I'm not going to be in Van! Wintersleep really needs their own tour.
  6. To me, De-Loused In The Comatorium is still more enjoyable. I actually bought Frances the Mute first after previewing on a whim (cover art caught my eye) in HMV. I scanned through the songs and was attracted first by the loose similarity to Led Zeppelin. Later on I was quite confused (trying to figure out the tracks especially), and finally impressed. There is a lot of filler in Frances the Mute. I read they left the title track out (but left the lyrics intact inside the cover) because they didn't have enough space left, but if they had cut down on the non-music, it may have fit. I usually skip through most of it to get to the songs. On a whole, a lot of the songs are actually better-written than on DLITC (love L'Via L'Viaquez & Cygnus/Cassandra Geminni VIII), but the entire Cassandra Geminni just draws out far too long. I find myself skipping through passages every single time. This and the fact that DLITC has Televators make me like and listen to their debut more.
  7. Quoi? He has a solo project? Edit: Listening to the first track and I like it so far. Heh, does this mean Radiohead's going back to non-weird music?
  8. I could see them carrying on a few albums. A couple of their songs need to be skipped but on a whole they've got some pretty good stuff. It was a worthy purchase to me, but they were overshadowed by the Raconteurs becaue I bought the albums at the same time. Wolfmother taps into a few markets, they would appeal to fans of The Mars Volta and similar bands as well as those who like classic rock, and fans of the White Stripes. They haven't shown too much originality yet, but for a band trying to emulate the great band of the 70s, they do a good job.
  9. OOOH! Tell me when!! Yeah, I realized that some time after I made the post. I meant 'Into Your Hideout'.
  10. This is not the poll about the song that took the least effort to create or about his worst songs for that matter. As for the other guy, IAWCC...the closest Matt came to becoming a boy band? Listen to the damn song and ignore at the opening bits of the video with him and his acoustic guitar on that sofa. The rest of the video stabs at the 1000 lb gorilla that we have to deal with South of the border--that's pretty boy-band-ish, ain't it? If IAWCC wasn't a single, people would rank it as one of the best songs on the cd. People are stupid. If Weapon was a "cross-over hit" into Top 40 Radio, people here would hate that song as well. Actually, you're making a really bold and quite misguided assumption. I just hate the fucking song. It has nothing to do with if it was a single or not. Yeah, me too. Don't like the sound of it at all, and the video is only another reason to dislike it. I disliked the song the first time I heard it. I realize the lyrics are about the US, but it's the sound of the song I was referring to, not its meaning. I did say it was the closest he got to sounding like a boy band, not that he was writing boy band material.
  11. Yeah, In A World Called Catastrophe makes me cringe because to me, it's the closest Matt ever came to sounding like a boy band. Especially the video... *shudder* And since it's not in the poll either, I still have no vote. ;)
  12. Well those people clearly suck. ;)
  13. Flashdance II is really cool... all of Loser Anthems is really great, but then I love most of his songs.
  14. I don't really like either of those... is it still possible to buy the RCAF shirts?
  15. Man, these polls are getting old... She's Got a New Disguise, definitely. The first time I heard it I was floored... so sad and emotional, always makes me want to cry, but more so, sing along. One of my favorites of any of his work.
  16. Bland? Try out "The First" or that whole album. Not like their other stuff at all. Edit: Pinback is awesome. Hells yes! (about Pinback I mean) Hey, isn't Walking With a Ghost a White Stripes cover? Or is it the other way around?
  17. ATB - Too Much Rain (ATB vs Woody Van Eyden Mix) Yes, I make a conscious effort to be such a retard. ;)
  18. Hmm...pretty good from that website, I'm guessing this is the more mellow side of her work? If only I could SEE Matt in concert I could talk about how great Melissa McClelland is. ;)
  19. Hah, well I see I don't share the popular opinion. Well I still think they're cool. Their album drags in a few spots but otherwise it's some good retro rock.
