Hey guys, A few days ago, one of my friends sent me this excel file that has 270 pictures of different bands ranging from very recent popular bands to obscure ensembles of 50 years ago. Basically what you have to do is type in the names of the bands - Has anyone else seen this file, and if so, which ones did you get so far? I've gotten 242 of 270, but the last little bit is driving me NUTS!!!! l.

Who Else Needs A Greatest Hits?
lyuan replied to sodamntired's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
I really dislike seeing greatest hits coming from artists that I really really like. What does it mean, or what are they thinking (in terms of the direction their careers are going to take) when they release one of these? How often do you see artists who release compilations like this go on to make more great music? I hope Matt keeps on going! l. -
I've more affinity towards the Frank comparison. It's a nice field though - Lots of things a rabbit would eat. I'd consider myself lucky if I were a rabbit and ended up there. Is that some sort of rabbit heaven? I would probably be pretty joyful...

You guys think that there might be a tour (or at least a few shows) Mr. Good will be putting on to promote the new disc(s)? I'd love to see him live again!

Ok... I haven't seen this one - but I've heard really mixed reviews. So far this is what i've heard: Pros: Really really REALLY good effects Things blow up cool Cruise wasn't as bad as expected Cons: Storyline Huge gaps in logic and plausibility Unreasonably long for the content I was a huge fan of the book, and even took a stab at the radio series...Should I be spending my $10 in the theatre???

Undeniably the best Batman flick to date - Possibly the best comic book adaptation. I appreciated how they always put Bruce Wayne the person before Batman; how they took the time to explain his 'madness'. Batman had no special powers. he was human, and the fact that they really epmhasized this was terrific. P.S. The Batmobile kicks ass. I don't care what anyone says. l.

Ummmmm...there are a few campy things such as the shotgun in the shape of a crucifix that I really just can't get over... ;)

Matt's got a whole lot of great B-Sides and non-album tracks hanging around. Instead of making a greatest hits, I really wish he would take all those floaters and compile them onto a disc a la Oasis' Masterplan. That would be completely rockin'! l.

Avalanche Strange Days

I don't know - for me, every MGB or MG album has its time in the spotlight. Right now, I've been listening to AOB for a few days - and it really is my fav right now. And it's weird...Everytime I start listening to any of the albums, a new song becomes a favorite on that album. It's weird how your tastes and preferences change whether it's because of a particular lyric(s) or because of the music. They are all Good.

How come you bought it twice? Did you download it, delete it, and then go download it again???
-
That's a pretty cool concept actually, but what's stopping people from going on there and making up bogus stuff? Hey, I didn't know Oranges were originally from iceland....Wow... ;)

ecnarf, where are you actually getting these numbers, and why are we interested in his measurements anyway? Are we going clothes shopping for the guy?

Avalanche has been my favorite ever since I saw it being performed live. It's one of those EPIC rock and roll songs. I love it!!!!
-
Meh, don't worry about the guy - I bet you he's got a bunch more stuff brewing in his head, and when he comes back, he'll be more 'angsty' than ever
-
I think Avalanche is a much better album - White Light has a bunch of good songs, but it just seems like Avalanche has a bigger vision, and more direction.
-
I'd buy it if it was a better quality version on the net. The free one online is sort of muffled. I'm not sure if that's the effect Matt's going for though.
-
I'm sure it'll be fine!!! Matt, wish you the best! Get better and write more songs, but no songs about emergency testicular whatevers in it, okay???
-
Matthew Good by himself - seems to have more focus. 'Rich and Famous' status is on the periphery. With the band, the message is there, but the urgency is not. Musically, it seems like Good has moved to a more folky-rock, focusing more on them lyrics ;). I have a hard time deciding. I think there's more good material with the band, probably because there's just more material to pick from. I think Avalanche is his best album though out of all his stuff.

Middle Class Gangsters!!!!

I think 'running for home' is awesome - I play it all the time on my ivories ;). Although I agree with leckie that it changes everyday. "Avalanche" live is really hard to beat. Strange Days is probably my favourite though....

I'm going to have to say Annabelle - I just like the simplictiy of the melody. It screams without being loud.
