  1. it's not a beak. it's what is left of the dog's nose after decomposition. resembling this quite a bit: look at its body, the way the legs bend, the tail!, what looks to be the only fur left atop of the head. if the nose has decomposed, then that would explain the lack of ears as well.

  3. haha well played.
  4. sounds like the consensus is that the monster is actually a decomposed dog that someone had tied up and then thrown into the water. it apparently bears resemblance to the bone structure of a pug or a bulldog of some sort. well, that's not as cool as i was hoping. kinda sad, actually. very sad.
  5. in a way i agree, i think the riddler would be a good choice if they ever choose to make another film. he's one of batman's villains whom i could see being a conceivably interesting villain in the hands of christopher nolan and the rest. at the same time, the people involved with this project, namely nolan and his writing team, seemed pretty adamant about doing these films with villains who had not been featured in the original franchise. they succeeded in the first film, and for the dark knight coupling the joker with two face was such a great idea for so many reasons... the way they executed both character's storylines was amazing-- they did such a good job with those two. but i can't help but feel as though, just like with the penguin or catwoman, that the involvement of the riddler would bring the film to a much campier, kitschy level that they've definitely been trying to steer clear of. maybe i'm underestimating the riddler... i can't seem to dissociate him from jim carrey's portrayal, which was equally excellent and silly. i'm also reminded of the riddler's role in the long halloween which was pretty wimpy and insignificant. maybe i should read one of the graphic novels that involve the riddler on a more serious level. then we'll see. SPOILER (Highlight to View) i was hoping to see dent's story arc carry onward, but that doesn't look like it'll be happening. *although* my girlfriend and i had a pretty long debate over whether or not dent was actually dead... whether bats and gordon just killed his public persona... perhaps two face has more of a future in store??? i'd definitely like that if it were to come about but i also wouldn't mind seeing a few other villains... cat woman would be okayyyyyy... but i'm not sure if i'm just saying that because it'd prolly be hot. talia al ghul would be another choice, but i've never really seeen or read her be anything but a buffer between batman and ra's. but who else is there? clayface? no way. poison ivy? i can't really see that one happening either. after taking a look at bat's rogues gallery on wikipedia, i can't really say that there are many choices out there aside from the riddler. he seems to be the most likely of villains. sometimes i'm amazed by comic book writers' abilities to keep writing new stories with the same cast of characters...
  6. an falcon alien. maybe it's the god horus. we need to find his spaceship and discover the secrets of the pyramids. as an aside, i fucking love the people who write for gawker. i seriously hope that this is part of a viral marketing campaign for ali lohan's new album.
  7. haha you make it sound as though it's slid by without anyone noticing. mcleans felt it was so important that they put it on their goddamn cover. well, it shows where that magazine's priorities have gone, if nothing else.
  8. meg makes me lol, has great taste in music, and i'm sad that i dont talk to her as much as i used to.
  9. i don't really think that's a contradiction though... just because it takes planning to create chaos does not really undermine the chaos that he's causing. remember, he's an "agent of chaos" meaning he brings it about, and as we've seen, he does it by whatever means necessary.
  10. prometheon is a fellow mississaugan (and therefore he wins) and is also an all-around good guy from what i know, even though i don't really share his taste in music.
  11. All through the movie I had goose bumps. It was crazy. I want to see it again, and I usually don't like going to movies twice in the theatres, but I HAVE TO SEE IT AGAIN! It was brilliant. bone chilling? i thought that part was hilarious.
  12. in response to muran's response to my comments: SPOILER (Highlight to View) yeah that makes sense. it bothered me initially, but the more i think about it, the less it's a problem. i think it's meant to bother us... because the second time he goes to save rachel, it's not actually her. joker played on batman's weaknesses... i like that. SPOILER (Highlight to View) right, i understand that he didn't want to put his family at risk and then does so anyways... i just felt like the "oh he's dead! oh he's not!" thing has been overdone, especially in comics. it's a weak and unimaginative way to trick the audience. i didn't see it coming either, but there are definitely lots of hints that he's still alive that are given afterwards (dent's driver/gordon refusing to speak, etc.). and yes, it was important to the plot, but i just think that you could suggest that gordon's job is wearing on his family life, and hve him still "appear" driving dent's truck in some other way, that doesn't involve him faking his own death. it was at that point that i think the suspension of disbelief was a bit lacking.
  13. i don't know where sea change would rank in my opinion. i love it, because the songs are great, even just as a beck album it stands out vastly from the rest, and if anyone is going to emulate nick drake and john martyn and do it well, it's going to be him. but i prefer beck when he's being irreverent and stupid. right now midnite vultures and one foot in the grave are my favourites, but it's hard to pinpoint because i'm always changing my mind.
  14. it was good, but was a bit lacking in places. SPOILER (Highlight to View) when batman jumps out the window to save rachel, he leaves everyone in the party at the hands of the joker. wtf? SPOILER (Highlight to View) gordon dieing and then coming back to life was predictable, but also shoddy storytelling. it was unecessary, unless the writers wanted to highlight the conflict his job causes with his personal life, but if that's the case, i don't think they followed through with that very well at all. but otherwise, yes, as far as the writing and story are concerned, it is the most solid, detailed, meticulous, batman story ever put to film. i can't stress that enough.
  15. i bought the virginia EP when it came out, and STILL haven't bothered to watch that documentary. as the pitchfork review of it pointed out, it probably would've been better to at least release the film prior to the release of boxer... it would've proved to have been a more interesting film at that point, i think. and yeah, the EP itself is a bit useless since those songs hve been around for quite some time, but it is nice to have them all in one place.
  16. you're about 12 years behind, shade. but that's ok, it's a good song. coldplay recorded a song w/ her for viva la vida, but cut it from the final tracklisting because they thought it'd be "too sexy"... whatever that means. i think coldplay should've kept the song on, because viva la vida certainly wasn't 'sexy' at all and could've made the album a lot better than it turned out.
  17. weird. what's the purpose of being able to delete certain artists from your "library"??? i just deleted the foo fighters from it (on purpose, just to see what would happen), who had a significant play count, and i just don't get it. is it so people can make themselves look cooler by being able to delete all the bands they're not proud of? i can kinda see how it's functional... because after 57,000 plays my top 10 doesnt necessarily reflect who i am anymore... so rather than being able to reset my entire account, i can just delete individual artists. cool, but still weird.
  18. jarrod, it's all good. you might just need to listen to more music. same goes for shade. i really thought you'd have dead meadow for '08. shows what i know.
  19. agreed. his track record hasn't been very good since his first solo effort to be quite honest... but i'll give him audioslave's debut because i'm feeling nice. so, his past three records have been shit.
  20. nice lists everybody. keep 'em coming!
  21. well half of eleven are dead, jim. i think this collaboration still has promise, and the song would be somewhat better if he didn't just use the chorus as a crutch. i'm definitely keeping my cursing to myself until the album comes out... i doubt it'll be much better than this, but i'm still interested in hearing the whole thing. tanned, leathery skin, frosted tip hair, pop songs that debut on RYAN SEACREST??!?!.... is cornell showing his true colours? this kind of transformation only solidifies in my mind that those grunge acts (soundgarden, pearl jam, alice in chains) were just glorified cock-rock bands who figured out how to write about girls, motorcycles and drugs in a different way than their predecessors.
  22. here's a taste, it's called "long gone": http://ryanseacrest.com/media/ (go to the bottom of the page)
  23. pretty self explanatory. some people were blogging their responses a few weeks ago and i thought it'd be cool to see what everyone's list would look like here. sure, it's just some useless listmaking, but it seems fun enough. just one stipulation: i know that this can be a difficult task (especially when you get closer to 2008), but please only list one to two albums per year. the best source i know of for album lists would be wikipedia. each year has a pretty detailed (but obviously somewhat incomplete) list of what albums were released. here goes: 1985 the replacements - tim 86 peter gabriel - so 87 sadly, GNR's appetite for destruction is the only album from 1987 that ive heard. 88 sonic youth - daydream nation 89 faith no more - the real thing 90 sonic youth - goo 91 my bloody valentine - loveless 92 kyuss - blues for the red sun 93 a tribe called quest - midnight marauders 94 nine inch nails - the downward spiral, jeff buckley - grace 95 foo fighters - foo fighters 96 beck - odelay 97 godspeed you! black emperor - F♯A♯∞ 98 massive attack - mezzanine 99 blur - 13 00 a perfect circle - mer de noms 01 tool - lateralus 02 mcklusky - mcklusky do dallas, queens of the stone age - songs for the deaf 03 matthew good - avalanche, cat power - you are free 04 autolux - future perfect 05 andrew bird - the mysterious production of eggs 06 tv on the radio - return to cookie mountain 07 the national - boxer, the dillinger escape plan - ire works 08 so far, i'd have to say either no age's nouns or portishead's third.
  24. agreed. if that happened then i wouldn't be very surprised if he rerecorded beautiful midnight acoustically and sold the CD only in starbucks. i think the likelihood of him selling the album only on itunes is slim, as we're slowly learning from bands like NIN and radiohead that any idiot with a paypal and knowledge of torrents can sell their album online. while he certainly does rock the charts on itunes, i don't (and hope) he won't limit himself to that audience alone. i don't have itunes and don't really want to get it. especially not if my ISP continues to favour bandwidth throttling/tiered broadband.
  25. definitely. in an interview, christian bale compared heath's performance to dennis hopper's in blue velvet. i would have to agree, as both have great range, managing to be equally hilarious and intense without coming off as too campy or earnest. that's the only performance i can really compare heath's to and it would have been logical choice if heath was looking to emulate any kind of iconic villains without drawing from past portrayals of the joker.
