  1. who knows! ;) by the way, why am I "quietly lost"?
  2. there is not a clear anti-americanism in Spain (or in Europe), we have it very clear who we are kinda "fighting" against: against Bush and his administration, against his policy, against his unjustice, against his imperialism... we are NOT against Americans, we are against Bush and that idea that the States is the "world's savior"
  3. yes, it is amazing how he can write SUCH GREAT songs... i wonder the same, where the hell he gets the inspiration from...
  4. well, then the CIA will have to come all the way to Spain to get me... and millions of people who think the same and who demonstrated in the Spanish streets against Bush, against Irak's war and against the American imperialist policy... CIA, COME GET US!!!! ;)
  5. crusader, that's the one ("a squirrel finds a nut...") and i also think that the sound in the background is like a whale... OH GOD... i love this song!!! I JUST LOVE IT ;) and what about his voice??? with all those "register changes" (I just made up this word in English, don't even know if it exists, just translated literally from Spanish), with those ups and downs in his voice... and the different moments in the song: some pretty pretty soft and tender and others with such strength... i think no matter which other songs from MG I listen to, this one will always be my favorite one
  6. yes, well, i really hope they read this: BUSH IS AN ASSHOLE, A CRIMINAL, A NAZI someone who would deserve to be taken to the International Court to be judged by his war crimes ;)
  7. yes, right, room 101, where citizens were re-educated ;) always under the Big Brother's supervision... THE BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU...
  8. ... by the way, if you have the chance, watch the movie ("Farenheit 451"), it is a pretty old movie, it could even look "old fashioned" with all the technological advances in movies nowadays, but its so current, it represents that idea of fascism, of human being control so well (the same i would recommend you "1984" by George Orwell, both the book and the movie)... both movies are in the Internet (since they are pretty old it's very difficult to get them on a video tape or DVD) and can be downloaded... but read the books too, they're great
  9. well, burning books is the last thing Bush could do to be more fascist than he actually is...
  10. thank you danimal ;) for me the forum is the only possible way I have to talk about Matt... as I say in another post, I knew about his music in a university trip to Vancouver, I couldnt assure that (we are 50 million people living in Spain) but I don't think there's anybody in Spain who knows who Matt is or MG as a band... and I don't have anybody to talk to about him!!! that's why I like to participate in the forum so much and I appreciate the kinda "conversations" i can have with you guys here
  11. I say lucky you are, Lorien, because for me it's almost impossible to see him live ;) I live in Madrid (Spain) and I don't think he ever goes to Spain to play... I'm not even sure if there is anyone else in my country who knows who Matt is!!!
  12. actually I dont know how he got involved in this kind of topics, it would be a good question to ask him in an interview, right? ;) i guess - because that's what happened to me - being in touch with reality, with society, with world problems, worrying about other people and getting really concern with their needs, with their problems... or simply be sensitive to unfair situations (Irak's war, for example, which has been really impressive for my country since our ex-president supported Bush in this illegal war and as a consequence we also had a 11-S, ours was 11-M when we suffered an Al Qaeda terrorist attacked which killed lots of people, ordinary people...), to human rights... that's how, for example, works for me
  13. lucky you are, Lorien, you can attend one of his concerts ;) have a lot of fun and enjoy it
  14. hahaha... yeah, overuse of "like him" in your message... the good thing about such a forum is like most of us like him and are gonna talk about the feelings we get when we hear him, his music, his lyrics, his songs basically... and share it with the rest... it gives me the opportunity, being so far away as I am from you guys, to speak up - somehow - and express my opinion on it... thanx for letting me be part of this fans group ;)
  15. yeah, I know he's a member of AI ;) I'm a member of the Spanish AI section...
  16. noooooo  don't say that!!! ;) listen to it, pay attention to the lyrics, appreciate the voice changes all the time... it sends shivers down my spine anytime I listen to it...
  17. yes, maybe you are right, maybe it sounds very upbeat... but at the same time his lyrics are very satirical and deep and - as always, which is also something I love of his lyrics - very socially commited (it could be because I am very socially commited in Spain too and I'm part of many social organizations...)
  18. although my favorite song has been - and so far it is still - "The rat who would be king", "we're so heavy" is getting very close to be at the same level of preference as "the rat..." ;) i just love this new song...*sigh* i just love it...
  19. that's exactly what i like: that i havent heard anyone who sounds like Matt... his voice is unique and I've heard a lot of american, spanish, british alternative music and i havent found any artists whose voice sounds similar to Matt's
  20. ... and (sorry, I forgot) my first impression was not really that i didnt find the album good... it just surprised me, it was so different from the previous stuff... i dont know, maybe - as Lorien says - i was expecting some sorta "Avalanche" kinda album... but it's good it surprised me, at least it didnt produce any effect on me ;) on the contrary, it shocked me a little bit...
  21. actually my major is English and I have been living in the States for 2 years and a half... so my English is pretty good (at least this is what native speakers say:) ) and i understand Matt's lyrics quietly good - I miss some words sometimes - and most important I understand the meaning behind the words in his songs...
  22. thanx ;) actually yes, Spanish has many cool words  talking about Matt or MGB? well, i guess that all musicians improve and get better with the years and maybe in a different way Matt sounds more mature - as someone else has mentioned here - although my favorite album (AOB) is from the MGB period...
  23. ... the only one i can really discard right now is "worse than what i would expect", that one is out for sure ;)
  24. yeah, i guess i'll wait till i make up myself ;)
  25. ;) I missunderstood you then...
