I'm seeing these guys in June and in classic omgfanboi fashion, I am overly excited about it. The visuals and light show accompanying the music are consistently impressive, and make for a really awesome and emotional vibe throughout the performance. It almost makes up for the lack of variance in their setlists. ;)

Chris Cornell - Carry On

This album has been a pretty big disappointment. To be honest, I still haven't gotten myself to finish it. I've probably listened to the ~6-7, then just turn it off. There were a handful of songs I enjoyed from Euphoria Morning, but I have trouble even listening to this. When I'm feeling daring I'll check out some of the later ones to hopefully find something to grasp onto. Part of my problem is that his voice is very high in the mix, and it's sadly not what it used to be. I honestly think he needs a fulltime band to help carry some of the music... using it as filler around his songs isn't really cutting it here. -

The new QOTSA album feels like a bit of a departure... I'll have to listen more to get a good feel for it. I'd love to hear some of these new ones live. -
[hide_me]I've got a solid sounding rip from the stream off of his website. Here are the two acoustic songs. (Metal Airplanes & I am a Window)[/hide_me]

=( =( =( This is depressing. I really hope Matt doesn't stop releasing music. Seems like wasted talent... There are very few song writers who are even in his league, IMO. And of course, I absolutely adore his voice. Maybe after getting a few things straightened out in his mind, he'll consider following through with Jackpillowhead or perhaps another solo record. At least, I certainly hope so.

Selling out is a retarded term that is so overused that I have a hard time taking anyone seriously again after using it. Basically if someone calls a band a sellout, it means: 1. The band has gotten popular* 2. Person accusing them of selling out doesn't like their new album. The whole thing is stupid. *'popular' should not have an immediate negative connotation tied to it. while a lot of popular music sucks, a band's popularity does not preclude them from being a decent band.

What are you listening to?

The Engine Room - A Perfect Lie (gabriel & dresden remix) -
Generic rock B)

Definitely inner turmoil causes greater writing. There are more feelings and thoughts to inspire songs, basically.

Requiem for a Dream, no contest ;)

This movie was amusing. I enjoyed the bit about capes, in particular.

The album is pretty amazing. There are only five tracks on it, which are supposedly divided into parts, though I don't really hear any real difference between the parts... so the album is honestly just five songs. I haven't heard Frances the Mute (the song) which will be released on its own single in Feb. That song will not be on the album. I'm looking forward to hearing all of this in GOOD quality, come March. Yes, The Widow is very reminiscent of Televators.

I have good news, moon & antarctica, and lonesome crowded west, and enjoy them all. Not really a favorite band of mine, but they're good for some nice listening.

I just recently got 100th Window, which is awesome. Future Proof & A Prayer for England rule. The first I heard from MA was their remix of A Perfect Circle's - 3 Libras, which is amazing.

William Shatner - "has Been"

I've heard a few songs from this. It was amusing, but nothing I'd listen to regularly, or perhaps ever again. I was intrigued to hear that Adrian Belew of King Crimson did some guitar on the album, and checked it out. -

I saw them on SNL tonight. They were pretty cool, actually. -

Ministry - Waiting

I would actually prefer a full band. I like hearing all of the different layering. And to some extent, one rhythm guitar doesn't do some of the songs justice and makes them sound a lot worse.

This thread doesn't deliver ;)

It is a damn shame this song was deleted from the American vers. of BM
