  1. My favorite Matt Good related moments/events/what-have-you's are as follows: 1)Noticing "Daddy Likes It Dirty" on the speakers at my first MG show back in '99. 2)The first time I heard FlashdanceII -> "I take my clothes off, whenever it suits me" -> Best...mental...image...ever. 3)The day I decided to refer to Born to Kill as my "musical orgasm". 4)Fooling around with my boyfriend at a Matt show in 2003. 5)Hearing Avalanche live at said 2003 show. Hmm... I see a trend, haha.
  2. Mighty Like Love, Mighty Like Sorrow - Songs:Ohia
  3. I totally agree that some of his best stuff was released on the demos. Dancing Invisible, Mercy Misses You, Heather's Like Sunday, Last Poem's Poet... I could go on. And I totally agree that he should release a boxset or something so that his uber-fans could get to enjoy legitimate and legal versions of all those songs. PS- Whoever asked if Dave Genn was with MGB during the demos, no, he wasn't.
  4. paint it black - the rolling stones
  5. head like a hole - nine inch nails
  6. Did anyone stop to consider that maybe part of why he stopped writing was because it just got boring for him? For a long time there he really had me interested in the war and politics and the "why"s and "how"s and all the rest. But since about mid-November he just kinda lost my interest. It's one thing to stay informed, but it's quite another to read the same regurgitated opinion time and time again. And maybe he got tired of finding ways to re-write the same opinion day in and day out. I don't doubt that part of it was because of his obvious annoynance with people who left rude comments and such, but maybe there's more to it than that. But, I will agree with whoever said that he can be a bit over-dramatic at times. But I think by now we should all have come to terms with it and even expect it. Is anyone REALLY surprised that he's taking a break from the web of undetermined length?
  7. portishead - it's a fire
  8. look happy, it's the end of the world - mgb
  9. the day the world went away - nin
  10. I thought about including it but then I thought about how different the sound was and I just decided that The Rodchester Kings are a separate entity from Matthew Good Band. [it still kicks ass though, of course]
  11. While I agree with the theory regarding egos and trying to get people to out-do one another, I think it was more detrimental to the album than good for it. I mean, don't get me wrong, I really dig AoB, but it's not even among my top 5 MG/B recordings. While it's good, I feel that it's missing something that Beautiful Midnight before it and Avalanche after it both had. That little extra something that makes an album great. It is a dark album, but I think Beautiful Midnight was just as dark and insanely better [that's my #1]. If you're going in different musical directions in a hostile environment, I don't think it's possible to make your greatest recording ever.
  12. Well I know for a while he was contemplating not making another album... but then Jen talked him out of it and now we have WLRRR. So ya, I think you're right. I don't think he's quitting music, just the whole internet scene. [Keep in mind in one of his last posts online he mentionned the possibility of an acoustic tour] The only question I have is whether or not he's going to make an album with Dahle or if that was just some fun for him and now he's going back to Chris and company.
  13. I don't have any of them because they're super hard to find and I'm forcing myself to take a break from Ebay, since I've already blown a good $300 on MGB memorabilia. [it's terribly evil how fun and easy they make spending money on the internet] But if I could only own one I think I'd pick Euphony. It's only got 6 tracks but those 6 tracks are just so incredible. [PS- if you don't know the tracklistings you can go here: http://www.massacreindisguise.net/songs.as...pe=demos&cols=3] [PPS- hopefully this hasn't been done before... I couldn't find anything]
  14. As much love as I have for Pink Floyd--and believe me, there's a lot of love there--there's just something about Robert Plant's voice that is just so... and Bonham's drumming... it's just... in a word, "yummy".
  15. all my life - foo fighters
  16. How is that Black Keys album? I love Midnight in Her Eyes and 10AM Automatic... but that album was kinda pricey. On my last CD shopping spree, I got: (What's the story) Morning Glory? - Oasis Antipop - Primus Loaded - The Velvet Underground Pawn Shoppe Heart - The Von Bondies and The Blind Leading the Naked - The Violent Femmes (Terrible, terrible album... cost me $8, I'm selling it to someone for $4 to re-coop some of my losses) PS- Whoever bought the Bills album... You don't like it? I saw them at the Folkfest last year and I was in love! It's great fiddle music! My friend bought it last week and we listened to it together on Sunday night. How much did it cost you?
  17. heaven beside you - alice in chains
