Best Dylan Albums

Damn right "best of" records suck. I think he was trying to be witty. -
John Frusciante

Check out "To Record Only Water for Ten Days." Really lo-fi experimental stuff, lots of gnarly guitar layers. His voice is frail and scratchy but very expressive at the same time. He made it before "Shadows Collide With People" which is a rather popish therefore shitty record in comparison. I haven't heard any of the new records yet. I thought "Shadows" was so bad that I vowed never to waste other $16 ever again. -
Near Fantastica. Pledge of Allegiance is a close second, though the audience didn't really know what to make of it. Giant is nice, but too obvious. I'm sure the song was written with the sole intention of opening concerts. Plus, it reminds me too much of the good old days when he'd play Suburbia live.

Best Dylan Albums

Blood on the Tracks. Every single song is amazing. Bob Dylan-self-titled. His very first record--at only 20 years old. It can be picked up for $8 at A&B Sound. See "In my time of dyin'" The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan. "Girl from the North Country" has to be one of my favourite Dylan songs. -
I believe the correct title is You ain't going nowhere. If you don't trust me bobdylan.com If anybody has this video please post it. I'm sure it would be life-altering. Wicked song.

Search Mblog if you don't believe that Universal is putting out a greatest hits CD. He's made several references to it on his blog. I doubt he'd re-record old music as that would be an extremely expensive endevour. One might as well record brand new songs if one is booking studio time. If there is going to be a DVD included, I imagine that it would feature standard music videos rather than live footage or new music. If fans were only so lucky...

Anyone Up For A Mg Songs For Gmail Trade?

Are G-mail accounts in demand? I've got fifty invites left. And I'm willing to part with them for nothing. Nothing! -
I remember being forced to sing "God Save the Queen" in elementary school. Every single fucking day. Our ties to the queen and the british crown are symbolic now. Which is fine. It reminds me that Canada was once nothing but a vast wilderness to be exploited by British and French colonial powers. And that wasn't that long ago either. God save the queen indeed.

I've seen him open with Pledge of Allegiance. Which was wicked. Near Fantastica was a good start too. But if this is a hypothetical "pick any song" sort of question ,which it seems to be, I'd have to choose "Born to Kill" Especially if it had a big giant closing part...everyone in the audience would be all jaw-dropped and would say, "That was incredible...how can they play anything else?"
-
I'm sure he's still got a blog out there. It's probably just super-duper secret now. Not just slightly secret... Which is a damn shame because his last posts on Mblog/blog were great... That dream-bit about cutting little bits of people and cauterizing the wounds were funny.

Who's the best live band?
WinstonSmith357 replied to Kumquat's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
Mogwai. Real loud. Seeing Radiohead play "Idioteque" live was incredible too. Huge stage presence from such a small guy. Slayer was crazy live. Pantera wasn't. There is no answer to whether a theatrical presentation is more important than a simple focus on music and music alone. Live shows are fluid. Sometimes performers are off. Sometimes you aren't in the mood to enjoy it fully. I hope everybody is going to Coachella... http://www.coachella.com/ -
Hey Caboose. It's a half step step down C Am Fmaj I haven't figured out the picking yet.

I think I'd perfer a double (as in 2 CD's) live album to a simple collection of songs from albums most of us own. From a Kids in the Hall Skit: Kevin: Oh right! [Looking through the record bin eagerly] I guess I should start with the Greatest Hits?! Bruce: Hey! Greatest Hits are for housewives and little girls!

I think this is a fantastic idea... I'd pay ridiculous amounts of money for a ticket. It seems that his concerts have been filled with beer soaked assholes lately rather then lovers of his music... How do you think it will shape up...will the beer-holes show up to mosh to an acoustic hello time bomb? Personally, I think that hearing "the fine art of falling apart" live would restore my faith in humanity. Or "Failing the Rorschach test" maybe even "While we were hunting rabbits." The mind reels...

Milton Hadley is an epic masterpiece of short fiction. Poe, Hemingway and Green have nothing on this classic. They will teach this one in the schools one day.

Hidden Cd Backs?

Radiohead included a book of strange drawings behind the CD with KID A. But only the first copies. -

Missle Defense Program...
WinstonSmith357 replied to Moonlight_Graham's topic in Politics and Debate: WRONG!
Two Reasons the Missile Defense Shield is a Terrible Idea: 1. It doesn't work. Testing so far shows that the interceptors rarely meet and engage their target and that's when the interceptors know where their targets are going to be. I'm sure any nation with BM's that has the intent on firing at a target on the US's soil will be very sportsman like and give a heads up so the US has time to prepare the new toy. 2. Assuming that it did work, it still won't stop anything that is not a ballistic missile. It doesn't even work for other types of missiles let alone more creative stabs at destruction. BMD wouldn't have stopped 9-11 or the Oklahoma City Bombing, which are the worst attacks on US soil to date. No ballistic missiles were used in either case, if I'm not mistaken. -
At Last There Is Nothing Left To Say

I wonder what happened to that novel "Maximum Traitor"? I think it was planned for spring of this year. Of course that was a couple years ago, so maybe someone has heard differently. -
It's good to see that the music may become more ambient after White lights stripped-down sound.

Suburbia is the finest MGB example; While We Were Hunting Rabbits is the best solo effort. Only in my opinion of course.
