  1. Yeah I experienced that too. People got pretty nasty and personal to the extent that they wouldn't even consider your position on anything. Some also seemed to be there just to argue with Matt because it somehow made them ?cool? I don't know.
  2. You hit the nail on the head for me there, except I never had any "difficult" periods in my life where I was listening to his music, the music itself still brings me back to high-school and early college. The most significant "difficulties" or "points/milestones" which occurred in my life happened after I had significantly reduced the amount of time I spent listening to his music, so I can't relate there. I was more into Alexisonfire and City and Colour during my hard times. You're making a very good observation/statement here though. It totally resonates with me.
  3. Though I appreciate the fact that over time his voice has changed, matured, and improved, I still prefer is older (ie; Underdogs era) vocals. I listened to him sing a live version of Apparitions on youtube last week from 1998 and it was flawless. I guess you have to remember that he's also aged and people's voices change as they get older. Like Elton John for instance. He changed to a baritone in the late 70's, early 80's which is why his newer stuff sounded different. I prefer his old style however I think I remember reading that he had something wrong with his throat/surgery or something and had to change it. I think the same thing happened to Matt Good, but I don't know if he changed his range, maybe only his style.
  4. Mulder Ad lib line: "Is there anyway I can get it off my fingers quickly without betraying my cool exterior?" If you watch the episode squeeze, David really did ad-lib this line.
  5. I was curious, what's an MG snob? Someone who hates MG or is uppity about being a big fan?
  6. I honestly don't think it was a big deal really. It was a good example of respectful conversation.
  7. Did you know that Daniel Craig played the storm trooper who gets "mind tricked"? You know.. the one who sets Rey free? Pretty cool eh? It's an Uncredited cameo.
  8. I don't think that would happen anyways, and I'm willing to bet he knows that and wouldn't let one fan's comment about smoking scare him away. If anything, I could see him arguing a point or just simply responding in kind to it. Anyhow, I guess this ant hill has been turned into a mountain and no longer needs to be discussed. I'm sorry if I stirred up a shit storm.
  9. Just to be clear, I wasn't saying you shouldn't ask Matt to quit smoking, I was just wanting to comment on the attention smoking gets. I don't normally voice my opinion like this but what the heck eh? I see nothing wrong with your comments about Matt smoking. You obviously care about the guy and his talents and wish to express that. Nothing wrong with that. No trolling intended here.
  10. I rather enjoyed Episode III. The pod racing in Episode I and all of the light sabre fights were really well done. I especially liked Count Doku's classic style.
  11. That's funny, I was just about to do the same. I'm playing Fallout 3 right now in Steam.
  12. I am also in the medical field and you are absolutely 100% correct. Sometimes doing what helps decrease stress (ie; having that smoke when you get home from work) can have benefits. I love how you used the "comorbidites" term. lol
  13. I know you guys mean well, but I feel I need to add something to this as it's something that bothers me allot. Allot of attention is placed on smoking and how bad it is for you. However the same could be said for people who eat unhealthy food all the time (ie; fast food, junk food, pop, excessive coffee etc;), or drink alcohol heavily. If it's not smoking that will kill you, something else will. There are so many other things out there that can kill you just the same, heck you could get hit by a bus and die tomorrow. Just saying. With all due respect to "girl" and "Moon". I don't mean to hijack the thread either.
  14. I'm going to have to go with Every Name Is My Name. I always skip it. I never listen to it. I've forced myself a few times to listen to it and it's just ... I can't. :) On the flip side, coming out in purple is hilarious but also a very horrible song.
  15. Thanks for the time you put in Matt. Here's to another year to come.
  16. I enjoyed it, however my 4 year old sitting beside me was bored and kept bugging me during the movie. I'll have to go see it again. Take my 8 year old with me, she really liked it.
  17. Is that a '72 or '73 Plymouth Duster in that lyric video? Or a Dodge Demon?
  18. Hey guys, I just have to let it be known that this song is awesome. It is the first song to come from Matthew Good in the last 10 years that I really superbly enjoy... Absolutely fantastic! My 8 year old daughter makes me play it in the car every time. Nice work Mr. Good. You know, I've been pretty critical of allot of MG's albums and songs over the last 10 years since Hospital Music and have made no efforts to hide it on this forum. In particular his Massey Album, making comments about him sounding drunk on that album (No offence Mr. Good, I know playing live in front of people isn't easy or perfect). I think my views mostly have to do with my own life changes (ie; growing up) and changes in taste etc..; However despite this I will still continue to support him and buy his albums because a part of me will always be a fan-boy, even if he releases an album and I absolutely dislike it... I'll still buy it. If he plays a show near where I live, I'll go see it. (Come on Matt stop avoiding Sault Ste Marie). He deserves that much from me. Especially since I got so much from his music when I was a Teen and in my early college years. I'll say it again... He deserves at least that much from me for how his music impacted me. Man.. what a great tune.
  19. Ha ha ha I remember on the old Metro forum back in 2003 that was the rage. People knew it wasn't what he was saying but they joked around about it. I still do, when my brother is around and somehow Matt Good comes up in a conversation. "Hey did you hear MG's new album? Hey remember Taco bell shoes?" lol
  20. I heard underdogs prior to BM's release and I really liked it but I would have to say it was BM (Not bowel movement) that sucked me into mgb back in 1999-2000. I would fall asleep listening it then wake up and think "Wow that's a good song". It really was a fantastic album.
  21. I agree, however I found the free DLC where you are on the Nostromo to be fun. I just played METRO 2033 REDUX. It was great!!!. I can't wait to play the sequel when it comes on sale. I'm currently playing Shadowrunner Returns so that I can play the Dragon DLC. Looking forward to that.
  22. I've met Matthew Good twice. In summer of 2005 in Sault Ste Marie during his Coma tour at the Roberta Bondar Pavillion, and in ?2007/2008? during his Hospital Music *acoustic* tour at Algoma University in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario. The 2005 meet was one of those tour bus signings after the show. He signed my Avalanche CD. I didn't have a camera at the time so I didn't take any pics. All I could mumble was a "Hi I'm Mike Size" *hand shake* "I enjoy reading your website". (Imagine meeting the one person in the world you'd wanted to meet since you were a teen, *sort of a hero like figure from your teen years*, how would you feel?) I think he could tell I was nervous and responded with a "Yeah... *head shake* then *smile*.... that's great". I don't blame him for reacting that way though, I mean what do you say to that right?. Afterwards when he was walking off with his buddies towards the hotel/bar I yelled something like "Take er easy there Matt" and he turned and said "Yeah, thanks". In the end, it was a Great show and I got to meet the guy I'd wanted to meet for a long time up to that point. I was really satisfied with that whole night. I was huge into the MGB and the Metro forums and stuff back then, so it was a bid deal for me. However in 2008, I wasn't really big into it anymore and I was a different person by then. He just finished playing his show at the University, did the bus thing, I went to meet him afterwards, he signed my HM CD, I said "Thanks for coming out Matt" (or something like that), and that was it. I wasn't nervous that time. The next day, I read his blog and he had linked his Blog entry to a Soo Reporters (Sootoday.com) article about how bad the fans where at the show, and he commented on how he would most likely not be playing there again. Now... I was at that show and I didn't see or hear anything I would consider bad or worth getting mad about. I guess he felt differently however. He was good about it though, as he did stay to meet fans and sign autographs after this (so called) horrible show. So you had to give him credit for that. I still don't think it was bad enough to warrant not playing in the Sault again but it is what it is. Sometimes I think that maybe he used it as an excuse to keep Sault Ste Marie as a layover/day off kind of thing like other artists do, instead of playing there. I would if I were him. :)
  23. I have to admit I am of the same opinion as this person. However I think it's most likely because *I* have changed my tastes in music as I've aged and had life experiences. Despite this, I still always get a little excited when a new album is coming because I always love to hear his new stuff. Although after Coma, the excitement has been less and less every time. Nothing personal against Matt though, his music is still good, but it's just changed in a way that it doesn't move me like it used to and that happens to people right? Doesn't make the music itself bad or any less for anyone else, and I don't say this to take anything away from him as an artist. I watched an interview with Dallas Green (City and Colour) from when he was recording one of his recent albums, where he basically says the same thing about fans with regards to *his* music, and how he understands that kind of thing. I would assume Matt is most likely a cultured enough person to understand that as well, or doesn't really care what people think, one way or the other. I guess you kind of have to be that way in order to keep on. For some reason, I have developed a fondness for 70's music (sans Disco) and have decided it was the best decade ever for music. *Note to admin*: This forum does not seem to like Microsoft Edge.
  24. I grew up watching this show (I was 10 when it first aired) and I really loved it until they stopped filming in Vancouver. It lost something when they moved production to the US. Its hard to pin it.... Atmosphere, story and mythology yes. It did decline in my opinion. Darkness Falls is my all-time favourite episode. Pretty much Seasons 1-2 have the best episodes in my opinion. Seasons 1-4 were the prime of this show.
  25. For some reason, I got into Alexisonfire in 2004. I don't know why, but I just really enjoy their music. After MGB broke up, they were my next favorite band.
