*laughing out loud* *rolling on the floor laughing my ass off* But in all seriousness.. vegetarians are simply better people than people who eat meat. Those are all valid points.. the comparisons to sweat shops and heroine really drives the point home.

In the spirit of blanket statements: I hate vegetarians. Unless it's for health reasons, of course.

Missle Defense Program...

In 1981 Regan had this same idea, inspired by a little trilogy called "Star Wars". It was scoffed as a silly idea, and continues to be to this day. -
Does Anybody Really Care If Canadians Protest
frustrated inc. replied to calm2chaos's topic in Politics and Debate: WRONG!
Im going to assume you're referring to Canadians when you say "you": Canadians think as individuals, no different than anyone else from most other countries. Only difference is we haven't been conditioned to tolerate totalitarian ideals through propaganda and fear-tactics, unlike 51% of our neighbours to the south. Unfortunatly, I don't think they do care. Your president has the resources to do what he feels is best for government control over the people of the united states of america (read a bit about CAPPS II, human implant chips, new torture-for-evidence policies [introduced in another thread], etc). But maybe one day all this protesting will inspire one american citizen, otherwise oblivious to his/her surroundings, to investigate why these protests happen internationally. And learn something. And tell a friend. And eventually stop tolerating the actions and policies that infringe on fundmental freedoms of people, not just in the united states, but all over the world. People have had visits from the CIA and FBI for less in the states, so its no surprise that protests don't happen as often as they should in the u.s. When you're sure big brother isn't watching, and the thought police can't get to you, do some research as to why people are protesting. (ref: 1984) It's easier to be ignorant and miseducated about these issues, I'll give you that. But there are alot of reasons to protest. Mainly for ... -
Background: The US has a naval base (Guantanamo Bay) in Cuba, where they are currently detaining 550 "enemy combatants" (read P.O.W.). The Details: Some prisioners have tried filing lawsuits against the US goverment for being detained at Guantanamo Bay for as long as three years, based solely on evidence induced by torture, and without any charges being laid, or trial. Recently at a district court, a US military panel fought to have a 70-year old supreme court decision overturnerd and won. While the act of torture itself remains illegal, evidence gained from torture is admissible in militant courts, and can be used to decide to hold prisoners in Cuba indefinatly. The Rationale: Boyle (The Principal Deputy Associate Attorney General who fought for the american right to use torture evidence) said that the United States never would adopt a policy that would have barred it from acting on evidence that could have prevented the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks even if the data came from questionable practices like torture.

Point noted. As far as Pixar goes, they're not working for Disney anymore. -
Notwithstanding Clause
frustrated inc. replied to Devil On Rollerskates's topic in Politics and Debate: WRONG!
I think this debate is mandatory for every law class in the country. Sound like a shitty deal having it in, but the rationale behind its existance is to provide the option to pass a law that would best serve the interest of the public, in the event that said law would contravine an existing clause of the charter or rights. To pass a controversial law using this loophole would be political suicide. I'm not sure how many times its been used but I -think- the only province to use this is Quebec with some of their language laws (please correct me if I'm wrong about this). -
I agree for the most part. The single point rule is pretty weak. The NFL talent pool is directly related to the fact the NFL can afford to pay players more. So once someone becomes good in the CFL, the NFL can pick the player up at a higher pay. I've heard people say the CFL is the NFL's training grounds, and it's pretty true. But the drives I find boring. With 4 downs, you pretty much get 3 tries to move the ball about 3 yards up, so often enough you get plays for short gains. Of course, its all about prefernce as to what you find exciting about football.

Can you back this up? -
I have reply # 13000 in the Open Discussion thread. It was about how gross not showering is. Looking back now, I'd say it was a good quality post and I would like to thank those who support me, and also those who support bathing and good hygene in general.
-
The CFL is far more superior than the NFL. Having 3 downs instead of 4 forces more passing plays.. and really, thats what makes it exciting.

Yup, I watched. Good game, though the BC - Sask. game was better. Don't think you could top that one. And I also won a bit of coin on tonights game. Gotta love Proline.

Movies That Made You Cry

If you liked that one, watch Mosquito and Killer Clowns from Outer Space. Both are B-movie horrors that are done incredibly (but not intentionally) horrible. 5 stars. As for the rest of you. Please stop watching Disney movies. Disney is ruining the movie industry much like Nickleback is ruining the music industry. -

Matt putting himself on the line with his (non-existant?) US fan base to voice opinions doesn't automatically make it "a very smart idea". Maybe "daring" .. at best. -

Null, because I don't watch reality TV shows. I could see people who watch soap operas probably watch reality TV too.

Some sources are saying Bush won Ohio, others haven't. If Bush wins Ohio, he'll be at 269. If Kerry wins the rest, he'll be at 269. -
