One of the best MG concerts I've seen... And Luke Doucet really did add an awesome atmosphere with his electric. Am I the only one who think Mclelland is one of the best female vocalists in this whole damn country?

Megamix is what got me into Matt Good. It was the little snippet where the guitar hook for My Life as a Circus Clown is mixed in. That led me to getting the song from my friend, then the album, then the rest of the albums and seeing him live 3 times in 2 months. I am now forever devoted to all that is Good (kind of odd... now I can't listen to Megamix without stopping it 3 minutes in...)

See... with picaresque, I could only REALLY get into Mariners Revenge and 16 military wives (which is a badass song all around, and so effing catchy it hurts). The rest, as you mentioned in the OP, turned me off mostly due to his voice.

For me, I have to say that they both come out tied for quality of lyric, song and atmosphere. I love so many songs from both, but for me the most comprehensive work for Matthew Good is Avalanche. Every song on that record speaks to me in ways other songs by him just fall a bit short of doing. I started listening to Matt during WLRR (I know, I know; newbie), but I fell in love with Avalanche. S'all subjective, really...

I've always been partial to Nat King Cole's "L.O.V.E." Old, classy and just a phenomenal tune to hum ;).

Though I love MG and U2, I also have to agree that the Beatles are the best band ever. Their music is consistently amazing, and I've been able to listen to the same songs by them over and over again for over 12 years; something no other musician/band can boast.

Tim: Mind if I get that vid too? It's one of my top 3 favorite MG songs, and I didn't even KNOW there was a video o.o

My Real Friends - High Holy Days

(The Dark Materials is by Philip Pullman. Blindingly good read.) Another fan-fugu-tastic series is called The Malazan Book of the Fallen. It's got a fantasy element to it, but the quality of the characters and writing is so incredible that I'd recommend this book to anyone and everyone.
