  1. It's one thing to sell riff, but am I the only one to whom it seems really lame to buy a riff? I would think you certainly couldn't walk around claiming to have artistic merit if you just bought the rights to someone else's work. I mean, I certainly wouldn't be able to call myself a comedian if I bought the rights to George Carlin's material or something.
  2. Dunno man, I heard if a dolphin goes off inside of you, it does so with enough force to blow all your organs out.
  3. Definitely could/should have been longer. Am I to believe that's all that was said for the whole interview? Did it last for like 45 seconds? That said, it does still seem to give an alright indication of what to expect, and sounds like it's got a great deal of potential.
  4. But the pope said condoms have tiny holes in them designed to allow viruses through!
  5. So wait... this demo version is different from both this past 24-hour preview, and the recordings of the acoustic performance on youtube?
  6. And most importantly, don't let pigs sneeze on you.
  7. I never got a chance to hear the acoustic version, but in any case, I did enjoy this one and certainly anticipate the final product.
  8. Joseph Arthur: Big City Secret
  9. I've been compared to a few famous, or somewhat famous, people, none of whom I think actually looks very much like me. They've included the lead-singer from a band called The Smithereens, which I'd never heard of before someone mentioning my supposed resemblance. Also, I've been told I look like Johnny Depp's character in that Ninth Gate movie.
  10. The thread title is misleading as the shoes missed the mark.
  11. At one point, I overheard the following exchange between a kid and a man who was, as I gather from their exchange, his father. Imagine it in a very heavy redneck drawl. Father: How do ya s'pect to get strong if you keep readin' all them books? Son: I swear, dad, it was only a short book!
  12. Well, he'd have to dump her for someone good, because there've been very few cases of candidates dumping running mates after announcing them, especially this late in the game. In such cases, the candidates that dumped their running mates have apparently lost by landslide, so I guess McCain probably has to make do with what he's got.
  13. So the investigating panel has concluded that Palin did abuse her power in the firing of an Alaskan state official. Obama/Biden are ahead in national polls by something like 8-11% so it's starting to look like McCain/Palin would need something like a miracle to win.
  14. I never liked the book nor the movie.
  15. I guess to explain, NC-17 basically means no one under 17 can see the film in the theater, and that's all. R means you can't buy tickets for the film by yourself if you're under 17, but you're allowed to see it, no questions asked, if someone like a parent/guardian takes you to see the movie. So if a 12-year-old came to the theater by themselves or with a parent to an NC-17 film, either way the kid would not be allowed to see the film regardless of the parents' willingness to consent to it. With an R-rating, the 12-year-old would not be allowed to purchase tickets and see the movie by themselves, but if the parent wants to take the kid to the movie, it would be allowed. Then there are ratings like PG-13, PG, and G, which are all merely suggestions, and people younger than the respective recommended ages can see movies with these ratings without any legal enforcement taking place.
  16. I'd consider Canada but it's just not far enough.
  17. But that's entirely subjective.
  18. TIME did a rather interesting article about Palin, it seems her inexperience and basically being unfit for national politics probably aren't the worst two things about her. Her record as mayor that unheard-of town isn't exactly a shining example of sensible democratic leadership. She has a record of firing anyone she's able to fire that's somehow sympathetic with her perceived opponents. She placed all of her various departments under gag orders because of such matters, this forbade the departments from saying anything to the press without Palin's permission. She also apparently attempted to remove/ban certain books from the town's library because they contained language that she deemed inappropriate, and then threatened to have the town's librarian fired because the librarian didn't offer full support and cooperation in attempting to ban the books. If she's someone that can't do the right thing when given an executive office in a small town, why entrust her with a nation?
  19. I guess to expand on the question McCain's health, the guy is 72, the average white American male lives to be 76, on top of that he's been battling the most serious form of melanoma for some time.... plus I kind of doubt the experience of living in a POW camp in Hanoi has done any benefit to his life expectancy. He may not seem like he's circling the drain, yet he's been less than fully open when it comes to questions regarding his health.
  20. It's possibly not really a matter of even being 2nd in command when picking a VP, one must actually consider them fit to be 1st in command as well. As many have pointed out, McCain's health is questionable, he has a history of cancer and is already in his 70's (just a few years short of the average life expectancy for a white male in the USA). Given that Palin's only political experiences has been an 18-month stint as a governor of a state whose population is under 700,000 (making it ranked 47th of 50 states, for comparison's sake, it's less populous than Portland, Oregon and it's surrounding suburban towns, or just slightly less populous than Hamilton, Ontario, for you Canadians) and a few years as a mayor of a town no one has ever heard of, it seems highly doubtful she'd be capable of running the country in any way. When asked about this, McCain campaign spokespeople refuse to address the question, they usually choose to instead attack Obama's supposed inexperience, and try to point out Obama's flaws. It's quite ironic, McCain criticized Obama for being young and inexperienced, but then picks a running mate even younger and less experienced. I am not digging how this election is going at all.
  21. I'd say Depeche Mode. They sucked then, and they suck now. That's why every cover of their songs ever done is better than the original.
  22. Yep, they are quite crappy. Sometimes I wonder just how people like that even get a career in music.
  23. Dude, why do you even listen to Bush anymore? The guy is so full of it, that I literally cannot stand to listen to anything he says. This has been the case for some time.
  24. Is spying and tracking as effective a way of keeping your kids safe, than say, teaching them to make the right decisions on their own?
  25. I dunno, you guys are kinda silly at times.
