Yah id have to agree, however drugs have always been a part of where ive grown up. But when i came back from my first year of uni it dramatically went up with more dangerous types of drugs.

Very cool dude, yah if my parents move out to Brittish Columbia in the next 5-7 years which they are planning i was thinking of taking a P.h.d at UBC so that I can stay close to them, but that is if i even get that far lol. Yah prime example Aloha, and becuase Colin Powell did "make it" so to speak out of poverty he is ONE in the millions of others that join the army, get injured, and then get out of the army expecting to be taken care of and get screwed over. That was definatly a good example, showing that one or two influential people made it, does not disprove institutional racism which is still dominant in our cultures. I have no doubt after getting hit in the head or your car overturned and burned you have tons of sympathy for the protesters...LOL wow your a real ignorant person eh? go enjoy your blissful inability to see what the hell is going on in the world around you. And you keep living in a world were people respect your message or even listen to it if your going to break the law and destroy property. I have no problems with people protesting, it's there right an it is needed in some situations. But you lose your message in your actions when you do things such as that. And if you can't see that then you would be the ignorant one Okay for starters who said I have commited these actions. I said i would sit on the side of the protestor for throwing rocks, in terms of an argument, not that i commit these actions myself. I was trying to say that in terms of the greater evils, the state commits many more evils then any protestor. BUt once again my "message" or w/e the hell it is, has been fallen on deaf ears. I'll say it once more, look at what our governments are doing that is extreamly emoral. Not to say that there is one "good" state, in fact organized government is a little rediculous when one looks at the illegit authority we give the state to do actions in our names. However this is deviating from the point, how can we justify state actions that are horrific, and not justify the actions of protestors who are expressing rage and anger over what is going on by destroying some personal property. I am not saying that i want people rioting in the streets, I am saying that we can't look down on protestors when the state is doing worse.

I too tend to take a sociological perspective to most social problems, as I am planning on taking my masters in sociology. That being said, I am so glad to not be alone. But using our "sociological imagination" as Mills once so aptly put, we must look at the social inequalities that are predominantly obvious in inner city schools. This is why i made such a parallel, there are not the same oppourtunities given to people of lower incomes then those who are born into midle class ( even lower middle clas) and upper classes have. This is also why I used Columbine as an example because it was an area of middle class (dominantly)neighborhoods and families. Living in poverty does a lot to a person and sometimes "just saying no" (thank you mrs. Regan) is easier said then done. In addition to this, living in poverty does a lot to social upward mobility, in which it is limited. Much more limited then I think most people realize. Onto what Aloha Joe said about drugs I couldn't have put the drug issue better, i totally agree.

So let me get this right. You don't see the difference ( other then the obvious) Of two kids walking into a school armed to the teeth with weapons and bombs. And a random shooting on the street. All that and you come up with white black is the red flag.. Thats just brilliant... I am not talking about shootings on the street i am talking about inner city schools. Yah ecnarf, i agree, that and a few other questions like the money men and who stood to gain and why people involved in 9/11 were in contact with high government officals. But as we said its not some crazy conspiracy, just questions that id like answered. Chomsky is one of the most succint and i find interesting writers on imperialism, illegitamate forms of authority, propaganda, etc etc. I think to underestimate this mans extreamly good writing is a mistake. He may not be the end all and the be all of academia, but he is an extreamly influential and id say one of the most important academics of our time.

Yah that became extreamely clear to me several years ago. Our society dictates this psychotic opinion that white life, and quite often rich life, means so much more. Prime example, with Columbine, a bunch of white, middle class kids shot other kids. The nation is up in arms, but of course for many many years before, lots of inner city kids have been killing each other. It doesnt become a crisis until the rich and sometime white (not always) are the ones who are being affected. Quite simply it makes me sick.

Sometimes i think that violence, strategically, needs to be done. We can protest till we're blue in the face, prime example March 2003 15 million people protested and the U.S. is still in Iraq. When the state holds all the cards, it is sometimes up to the people to do violent actions to acheive certain means. Prime example is the American revolution, in the states, these people are looked as hero's instead of traitors, so whats really the difference? They won. If they had lost they would have all been hanged and there endtrails brought through the streets. But since they won, they were looked as heros and did " what the had to" so to speak, to acheive their means.

Reading the newspaper today, apparently we are less at risk because we did not enter the Iraq war. But since i guess (assumeing) none of us are involved in Al-Qaeda, we can't make that call whether we are at risk or not.
