Well, maybe not national security, but a worst case scenario could still put someone's life at risk.

What Did You Last Watch On Tv?
MissEmily replied to Shiri's topic in Rentals, Television, and Readables
It airs in Canada on Showcase every Thursday, I believe, and then various repeats through out the week. I adore it because it's like this awesome hybrid between Monty Python and Kids in the Hall. Beyond the strong homosexual content and the cross dressing, the sketches are of extremely ordinary subject matter, (a la KITH) only instead of dark humour, (a la KITH) it's silly and British (a la Python). PS: I was sold with Fat Fighters. ("HELLO FATTIES!") -
Although I do agree that my tax dollars were wasted when they took the time to actually debate this in parliment, I do understand the government's concern in making sure they are not allowing people with shady histories to close to the most powerful people in the country. From what I understand, because of her association with the Hell's Angels, she was once on their hitlist. For all we know, she could still be a marked woman and they just let the Hell's Angels know that she was associated for a breif period with the most powerful people in the country, including the Minister of Justice. Asking an individual to paying a small fee for a background check before you get on a jet with the Prime Minister or before you have access to any of the offices in the Parliment Buildings doesn't hurt. Having said that, the opposition had absolutely no right to be bringing up the issue and expose the private lives of members of parliment. Beyond the fact that it has the potential to be a security risk, it's completely unprofessional to spend an hour debating tabloid fodder.

That's why I got my passport...well, I got my passport for Europe, but it won't be long before those without passports in Sarnia are generally screwed if they want to take advantage of a cheep dollar. I know I did. ;) I have a feeling financing just isn't an option for non-US citizans. Having said that, I'd definitely keep the option of going across the river open, finanicing or not. Because the dollar is generally at par right now, there's a whole list of things that are cheeper across the border. I wonder if computers were amoung those listed.

Wayne's World. It's one of my favourites of all time and after watching the 101 Greatest SNL Moments on the weekend, I needed to watch it. PS: Dana Carvey is fucking brilliant.

It was. ;) I've said it in a previous thread and I'll say hit here: Benjamin Linus is the creepiest son of a bitch on television, but is still fucking awesome. Micheal Emerson damn well better win an Emmy this year.

I keep dreaming about going into a pet store and buying fish. Last night I had a variation - I dreamt I bought a bird. I am curious to know what they may mean, so I'm checking out those links. Oh, and I was pregnant in a dream the other night. It was actually kind of fun. My family was upset with me, but I felt good about it.

I'd just cross the border then. ;)

I would absolutely love to contribute, but the jury will have to be out for awhile before I can make a firm decision. First off, I don't have access to proper recording equipment, but I'm pretty sure I can find someone to help me to record maybe a small demo for myself. Having said that, I've started work on a music project that is to be performed at the Imperial Theatre in September. Due to the chain of events leading up to my bipolar being diagnosed, this is the first show I've taken on in three years. In honour of the situation and why I'm back to begin with, I did Tripoli and Strange Days as my audition pieces. Now, I got a choir position which means I did OK, but I was told last week that I'm pitchy when I sing. Being the first ounce of critism anyone has ever given me for my singing, I'm hoping that this woulc be an opportunity to figure out how to perhaps somewhat fix my problem - and maybe use the new found skill to record a proper version of Tripoli or Strange Days in honour of the situation. ;) I'll let you all know what's going on soon.

My best friend swears by GIMP and I'll definitely try it as an alternative to Photoshop. In the end, I'm definitely going to make the effort to get a Mac. I really don't want to go through the hassel of having to deal with the extra programs that comes with PCs. Now, the next question: where to find a dealer in town. The online financing looks great...only problem is I'm not a US citizan. ;)
-
Graphic design would be definitely be a need. I'm thinking of opening an actual blog, but I don't want to do it if I don't have consistant access to a program like Photoshop. I used to have it on my current laptop, but I had to remove it because it took up way too much space and I'd rather use the majority of the space for iTunes. One more question: are they durable? The reason I'm shopping now rather than later is the fact that the screen on my current laptop is staring to blink and will sometimes do this funky white out thing. I'm willing to pay extra if it means that it will last and I won't have to be shopping around for a new one within two years.

***WARNING*** I'm not that technically savy. I just want a new computer. ;) OK, so my current PC laptop is on the blink. In the near future, I am going to need a new laptop and for my next computer, I am going to be looking into getting a Mac, preferably one of the laptop models. The biggest things I would be using it for is for word processing (blog/journal entries), Internet browsing, photo storage and iTunes. If I can fit a game like the Sims on it, bonus. Personally, I really like the idea of the Air simply for the portablity (I can take it with me to work and spend my lunches writing blogs and the what not), but after watching the explination on the Apple website, I don't get how I would be able to watch DVDs without being close to a second computer with an optical drive. (Being naive, I'm assuming if my computer picks up wireless internet connection...I could be wrong.) I also see on the website that there's an option to finance the purchase. Has anyone tried this? I'm going to need to take advantage of this if I actually go ahead with a purchase because I just don't have $2000 upfront for anything. Does anyone have any advice at all?
