Van Halen Is Back....good God
beerman37 replied to beerman37's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
Eddis Van Halen is a complete clown. I am partial to the "Van Hagar" era myself -
They are playing in Philadelphia on 10/1...3rd show of the tour, so the tour shouldnt have completely imploded by then. David Lee Roth is a complete joke nowadays, so I have a perverse desire to see this fiasco Incidentally, I should mention that as a part time gig I work at the Wachovia Center & Wachovia Spectrum as security, so I see all of the concerts, sporting events, epcial events, etc that roll thru that building for free. Good times!

Favorite Live Album?
beerman37 replied to Some Random's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
Are there any live Pearl Jam releases that include the Cat Stevens covers "Trouble" and "Don't Be Shy" (and any other Cat Stevens cover they may have done). I have a sneaky feeling Eddie Vedder is a fan -
Peter....and I'm not a big fan of it

Me and my father are polar opposites. He's 52 years old and loves all the new stuff - he called me excitedly the other day telling me he got tickets to see Dropkick Murphys & Flogging Molly. I like some new music, but I'm also still trapped in the 60s and 70 still with stuff like The Beatles, Elton John, The Who, Cat Stevens, etc -
I think the cover of Moon Over Marin is great, but I'm also not holding my breath that it survives. Its one of my favorite tracks on the album - I love the lazy beat to it

...died today. A TV/gameshow pioneer if there ever was won. His name is associated with so much....and his show was the background for one of my all-time favorite Seinfeld episodes

Statler & waldorf are the best, but Kermit always killed me when he would introduce the show or a guest and wave his arms frantically in the air while running off the stage

HBO is such a joke sometimes. And we get a dud finish of this show because of John From Cincinnati? Ugh. Deadwood is a terrific show, and I agree with eevrything said. The acting, the sets, etc are all top notch

I'm only about 150 or so pages into it, but its good. Its nowhere near as good as The Kite Runner, but then again, I think Kite Runner is one of the best books ever written so....

West Wing is awesome. I guess the reason I put that is because every single one of my friends couldnt stand that show except for me

This is a great show. Season 2 starst in September and I cant wait. I am actually enjoying some of the Showtime shows more than HBO. Brotherhood is another awesome Showtime show

Great review. The guy actually uses a line me and my friends use for singers like Matthew Good, Fish (the former singer for Marillion) - "criminally underrated"

I;d go the nostalgia route and grab "Captain Fantastic & The Brown Dirt Cowboy" by Elton John. That, along with "Buddha & The Chocolate Box" by Cat Stevens, were 2 of the 1st albums I ever bought as a kid -
Seinfeld The Simpsons Ballykissangel The Wonder Years The Sopranos Guilty Pleasure - The West Wing

True.! And now I just read that the set they used for Rome just burned down, so there's really no chance of resurrecting that show! Entourage was also a decent show until this season, which I think sucks. The "E" charavter has to be one of the lamest major characters on a TV show, but its awesome how Ari destroys him every week
