ME TOO! If I had jumped just a little higher, I would have had one... Scored a setlist from the soundboard in the back. Strange though, the songs on the setlist were in a different order than what they were played in... Overall a good show, aside from it taking FOREVER as usual to get started (I always notice this at the Commodore...) It was my fifth MG show. I'm sure it's not my last ;)

During Anti-Pop, my "boyfriend always hears "You're not Matt Good" instead of "You're not my girl" - I really don't know how he hears that one. Also, originally I heard "You could sell the sad the world tonight" in Flash Dance II when the real lyric is "You could sail beside the world tonight".

I have to say I am looking forward to this movie. I have a feeling the action is going to be really good in this one. Goblet of Fire was the last HP book that I *really* enjoyed - Order of the Phoenix just seemed very drawn out to me, and I started Half-Blood Prince, but haven't picked it up again since, it just wasn't holding my attention. I'll have to give it another shot I guess...
-
YES, that's the one, I remember now. Wow, your memory is better than mine ;)
-
Why would it be fake? The seller's location is Vancouver, and he seems to sell other somewhat rare music as well. I'd say it's entirely feasible that it's real. I've heard of people just finding his demo tapes kicking around in used music stores, although, I've had no luck ;)

Yeah, I did a little double-take when I heard that on the commentary too. I remember meeting you breifly at some signing in Vancouver a number of years ago (it might have been the midnight Audio of Being signing at A&B Sound? I can't remember now...). I was there with some other people I knew from the MG fan circle, and one of them was selling you some merchandise of some sort. While we were waiting in line, we put up a sign that said "Andrew from Phoenix" so you'd know where we were. Haha, oh the silly memories...
-
Yeah, I found the commentary to be very good. Learned a lot of interesting tid-bits you would never know otherwise. Anyone else recognize the blonde woman in the Strange Days video as the girl that is in the Nabob coffee commercial? You know the one where coffee gets spilled on the wedding gown. It's such a relief, because every time I saw that commercial it would drive me nuts trying to figure out why I recognized that actress...

Personally I thought the video was a little odd, but I guess that was how it was supposed to be. The part I really did like was how the rabbits were done throughout the whole thing. Personally it was nothing like how I would expect it to be done, which made it interesting.

Being a good little Matt Good fan, I went out today and purchased In A Coma. Walking home as I normally do (I work and live in downtown Vancouver) I pass the neighbourhood where I know Matt himself resides, and what do I see in various places? Matt Good lyrics in chalk on concrete walls and on the sidewalk. "Space is colder than the air in the mountains where I come from", "Damn, I'll bring them to their knees" and "Oh be joyful" in three separate areas. Not that this little bit of news is going to thrill anyone to death, but I had to post it - it could have been one of you leaving MG messages around downtown Vancouver - show yourselves!

The Fox is now playing Oh Be Joyful ;)

Nope, still together. It was the four of 'em at the signing. It was very shortly afterwards, I do believe, that the band officially broke up. I have pictures to prove it ;)

I've got the white limited edition autographed by all the band members. There was a midnight CD release at A&B Sound that I went to that the band was signing at.

The movie trailers hooked me for this one. The trailers made it look as though every moment was a thriller and full of suspense. I did not find this in the movie at all. It seemed as though there were moments of suspense with long unexciting parts in between. I was disappointed, as it wasn't what I expected.

"and that's why it's in black and white" - Every Name is My Name "I’ve got a big machine It’s blank and blue" - Look Happy, It's the End of the World" "i've seen red most of this little life" - Jenni's Song

Doesn't seem like a lot of people are commenting on this, so I'll put in my two cents... My personal opinion is to not do it on Matt. Depending on the job you're applying for of course... To me it seems a little fan-boyish to do a specific artist. I would be worried that the employer would perceive this as being a little immature. If I really wanted to do it about something musical though, but something a little more... professional... I would be more inclined to do it on, say, a specific period of music, and the evolution of it at that time, say the 90's. You could even focus on Canadian music in the 90's to somehow squeeze Matt in there  Not to mention, they would probably find it much more interesting, since they probably aren't all that familiar with Matt. Of course, I don't know what the job is, but this is my personal opinion on it. They may have said you can pick anything you want, but really, I'm sure the topic you chose is going to have some bearing on whether or not you get the job. I know it's more in the delivery, but still  If two people deliver a presentation with the same skill, and one is on beer, and the other is on fine wines and cheeses of France, which one do you think the employer is going to be more impressed with? I know that WE would be more impressed with the beer one, but that isn't really the point. We would be more impressed with the Matt one too... ( Haha, all of this coming from me, the girl that did the history of Matt Good project (in report form) in college, haha! Got a great mark, too ;) ) Good luck with the interview! Hope the presentation goes well!

You do know you're going to be restricted to the minors area with your son, right? Just thought I'd point that out in case you didn't realize...

Interesting how people jump to conclusions and assume that just because drug dealers would knock on the door of the tour bus that certain people were actually drug users... Don't you think that perhaps because of the stereotype of rock stars using drugs, that every time they went to a new town, the drug dealers in that town would flock to them because they think they might make a sale? It would be like bees to honey. Plus, I really don't think if Dave (or any of them, for that matter) did drugs, that he would have hookups in every single town they went to... Not to say that none of them did drugs, because I don't know that. Like I say, I just found it interesting that people would jump to conclusions. There. I've said my bit, and I'll be off now ;)

And that's the exact reason people rag on the history teacher guy. Exactly. I don't think he should have done it either, but I just wanted to point out that I don't think Matt would have won or lost based on the money he owed the dude. I think the suit must have been based more on the illegal distribution of the stuff. Yeah, so that's all ;)
-
I really don't think it was a matter of Matt "winning" or "losing". It was a matter of, "Hey that dude is distributing my music without my permission, and I'm not getting any credit, so I'm gonna sue". The fact that Matt owed him money was a completely seperate issue. The way the guy should have dealt with it was to take him to small claims court, not illegally distribute Matt's music for his own profit...
-
OK people, I really don't think anyone is qualified to comment on this "History Teacher Guy" since we don't really know the story. From what I know, Matt owed the guy money and wouldn't pay him back. Creating the History Teacher CD's was just his way of getting the money back. I got this info first-hand from "History Teacher Guy" when he was selling the CD's. Now, let's stop with the History Teacher stuff, yeesh! ;)
-
No, because technically it's a Danielle French song and not a Matt Good song. That's why it's not on any of the early demos. He just wrote it for someone else. ;)
-
It's a song written by Matt for Danielle French to sing.

Well, a number of years ago, back when the Running for Home site was still around with the APA, there were probably about 10 pretty big fans that used to chat it up quite a bit on ICQ and this old chat room that was on an old fansite that I can't even remember the name of. I got an email one day from one of the frequent chatters. He had received the email forwarded from the guy who sold the History Teacher CD's. It was pretty much a flyer for History Teacher - had all the details and pics of the CD cover, plus info on how to get a copy. So I emailed the guy selling them for more details and we had a short correspondance for awhile, which is where I got the info on why he made the CD's. In one of his last emails to me, he mentioned that Matt found out and was pissed off and taking him to court, and that my copy was one of the last available to go out. I'm not sure whether this meant it was one of the last of the 200 to go out, or one of the last he was allowed to send, because Matt put a halt to it. All of this was about... I'd say... five years ago. Maybe six. Up until recently I had the emails still in my Hotmail account, but I deleted them not too long ago. Now I'm kicking myself because I would have had the precise details to tell you.... arg! Anyway, and interesting tidbit of information is, that on the inside cover of History Teacher it says that "Broken" was actually recorded in the bedroom of the guy that distributed the History Teacher CD's... And I'm sorry, I just can't sell my copy *sorry*
-
No, they were sold. I bought mine, I think it was... $45 bucks or something like that... I can't recall it was a long time ago now. And like I said in my previous post, the whole point of the History Teacher CD's was so the guy could get his money back, so he made and sold the CD's. I wish I could help you with the pic of the cover, but I'm in the middle of moving and my scanner and computer are not up and running yet... Oh well, someone else has offered it ;)

The story goes as this, as I heard it from the person who produced History Teacher. The person who made the History Teacher played piano in an early version of the Matthew Good Band (pre Ian, Dave, and Geoff, but post Rodchester Kings). He helped partially fund a small tour on his credit card for Matt. To repay him, Matt apparantly gave him a guitar, but there was still money being owed to the piano player. He said this was never paid. Wanting the money he was owed, he produced the History Teacher CD's as a way to get the money back. He only made 200 copies, most of which were distributed as far as I know (he told me that mine was one of the last to go out). Somewhere around this point, Matt found out and all shit hit the fan. I'm not saying that this is the exact way things happened, but that's what I was told by the History Teacher seller, so I would think it was true.
