I recently checked this out again and was wondering too where this fit in. It definately could have been worked into something cool like All Together or Dusk, but the drum elements killed it in my opionion. I'm not sure if there was any intent of doing more with this song/teaser.

Ya, I thought it would be Silent Army for the next single too, but the more I listen to album version, it seems a bit too slow or quiet at the start to be a radio single. Us Remains Impossible would be a decent single. It is definately improved compared to the demo version and I think the 2nd half of the song sounds great when the guitars kick in and the song ramps up.

Blue Skies and We're So Heavy are definately two great songs and my favourites on this album, but I think that Alert Status Red is one of his best singles to date. It has a really catchy opening riff and it's a solid song throughout. Overall I'd give it the album a 4.

Pearl Jam

Yes, another great album! It took a couple listens to warm up to this one (kind of like their last self titled album). I was always a fan Mike McCready's guitar style and solos, but I feel this album is missing a bit of his traditional style and talent...although Amongst the Waves has a cool riff in it. All in all, Eddie's vocals brings things together to make a pretty solid album. -
Just Got Blue Loser Anthems. Good Deal?
MountainMan replied to Champion Of Nothing's topic in Matthew Good
There's another blue Loser Anthems listed on ebay for $500...that seems a bit much. I think one sold earlier this year for $50 which I thought was a killer deal. So $70 doesn't seem high to me, considering they only made 500 of those cds. Good luck selling it! -
Why Is Black Helicopter On 'hospital Music'
MountainMan replied to Moonlight_Graham's topic in Matthew Good
I think Black Helicopter was written earlier than most of the other songs on Hospital Music. The initial demo was released in late 2005, and I think the rest of the songs were from the following year. Maybe this is why the song addresses some different issues. -
Awesome song!! Matt Good never ceases to impress me! Obviously they will edit

I say On Nights Like Tonight for the 1st single and Silent Army in the Trees for the 2nd.

I thought it sounded great! Can't wait to hear the rest of the album...only 3 more months to go!

Thanks for uploading these Gomo, I had yet to hear this acoustic version of Black Helicopter. It was on X929 that I heard Black Helicopter a couple times, but it was the full band version from the Massey Hall CD. It's good to hear the acoustic one...a bit somber though when you compare it to his more recent live performances.

Playing Guitar Question
MountainMan replied to calgarydave's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
If you are playing an electric guitar, you can sometimes set the action of the strings a bit higher by raising the bridge. Loosen the strings 1st then back off the top peg under the bridge small amounts to make the strings a little higher. Sometimes this helps, but even expensive guitars can have a small amount of rattle. -
I finally go the chance to pick up Massey Hall at HMV in Calgary. They got in 75 copies at Chinook and there appears to be about 40 left, so if you

Nice job on deciphering The Boy Who Could Explode. I started a few days ago trying to figure out the lyrics, but couldn't make sense of a few of the lines...thanks for posting them!

City And Colour
MountainMan replied to Dan #2's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
I bought the Sometimes album couple years ago and listened to it a couple times and couldn't get into it. Then I heard him in concert at Virginfest and thought he was pretty amazing live. So I picked up his Live album and it has much better vocals IMO. Yeah, I agree the lyrics aren't anything special, but the guy's got a great voice and some of the acoustic riffs are cool. The new album has some good songs, like Sleeping Sickness and Sensible Heart, but I'd still recommend his live CD over both studio albums. -
I think this was only the 2nd posting of The Boy Who Could Explode. The lyrics are definitely more polished compared to the initial demo. I am digging this new version!

I'll buy the original ghetto atronauts cd if you still have it.
