  1. "Taco machine"
  2. Lol, that's funny mrtrufflepig. That is one of my favourite lyrics of his though because even though I don't believe it's exactly what Matt meant and it's not completely true, there is a strong element of truth that can be taken from it. Heaven is not just for people, but as for people in Heaven, it would be vacant if it came down to people themselves because no one is clean. Apart from Jesus Christ giving His life and righteousness to those who will repent of their sins and trust in Him alone for salvation, Heaven is vacant of people. Jesus/God ALONE is clean and only He can give His cleanness to people. Something we all are SOOOOOO undeserving of. Merry Christmas everybody!!!
  3. I think Cold Water and Los Alamos are really well done on the album. The way the latter is done is growing on me. I think I was just too attached to the nitty gritty of the demo and after a while of hearing the album version you start to forget exactly how the demo varies. I really enjoy the dynamics of Girls In Black and Army of Lions. AOL is far superior to the demo in my opinion. It has such a commercial quality to it and a little bit of a retro sound, it's very interesting and enjoyable. It kind of reminds me a bit of Audio of Being. This album has such a nice mix of songs and sounds and Warne really does get a quality of sound that is nice to hear.
  4. I was talking about the Wasting Light album there, SFN is from Sonic Highways which I like much more. Yeah, the first 2 albums are probably the best and Dave's drumming is the icing on the cake. I think There Is Nothing Left to Lose is a really good album too and quite enjoy Echoes and Sonic Highways.
  5. I really like the bass playing on this album, especially on Girls in Black. That deep bass in a few parts.
  6. Agree wholeheartedly, Moonlight. Their "reason" for not including the lyrics in the booklet is utter nonsense.
  7. Yeah that's one of the things that makes Cold Water interesting is the lyrics.
  8. After a couple listens I have mixed thoughts. Many of the songs are as good and better than the demos but the album doesn't seem to have a very good flow. It seems like a pretty random bunch of songs thrown in a blender. They are good songs so that's a plus. It's weird how such little differences from demo to studio can take quite a bit away from a song. Los Alamos still sounds good on the album but something is missing. I think the vocal performance might not be as convincing and haunting as it was in the demo and the subtleties of the music combined with the singing in the demo had a more special impact. Cold Water has more changes but I can already see those changes growing on me as I really like the more melodic guitar accents and the song captures the essence of the demo better. I preferred both Cold Water and Los Alamos in demo form though. It is a pretty big disappointment but maybe they will grow on me.
  9. Nope. I got a non-signed copy from MM and it doesn't have lyrics either.
  10. I haven't listened to the album but Kid Down The Well is definitely an improvement over the demo. I really like the accents of lap steel and Holly McNarland's backing vocals over the "sloooooow motion" parts, and the end has such a nice melodic sound.
  11. Yay, my copy from Maple showed up on release day, didn't get an email so I figured I'd be waiting until next week. Will listen to this puppy later.
  12. That sucks that Los Alamos and Cold Water lost their stripped down, raw sound. I was worried that would happen. Do they still have a nice ambiance at least?
  13. Did you like the demo of Cold Water? Los Alamos and Cold Water are my favourites of the demos and possibly up there on his best songs ever so it's concerning to see criticisms of CW.
  14. I believe Apparitions is the first song that really made me take notice of Matthew Good, but Beautiful Midnight is the album that officially sucked me into the world of Matthew Good music somewhere between 1999 and 2001.
  15. I think Los Alamos and Cold Water might be some of the most special songs MG has written. They have such an impacting, haunting quality that reminds me of what attracted me most to MG's music in the early years of being a fan with songs like I Miss New Wave, Suburbia, Born to Kill, Prime Time Deliverance, etc. Yet they're different. I love the ambience of them I am concerned the charm of the demos is going to be partially or largely lost in the studio versions. I think the production or possible changes might mar the rawness or something of it, but I hope that is not the case.
  16. I can't believe this might be my favourite of the new studio versions so far, I've repeated it already a few times. I really didn't like the demo much at all.
  17. Wow, now that's some studio changing. It sounds quite a bit different from the demo, but in a good way. I like those unique guitar sounds or whatever they are and Bones is doing a fine job on the bass. I didn't care much for the demo but this is a fun, happy sounding song. That random little break around 0:55 after the first chorus is interesting.
  18. Girls in Black sounds quite good. I like the bass playing and that solo/bridge is nice. The spoken word part adds something different and reminds of Had It Coming.
  19. What's this single version on Itunes? I bought it. I thought all there was was a demo type thing.
  20. As I figured, I missed the 200. I could probably have saved quite a few bucks if I had known that. Ohhhhh well.
  21. Thanks for the tip. I sent them an email but I'm sure I missed out because I only ordered around 7pm EST. I wanted to late the night before and waited a while after midnight but it wasn't up yet. Oh well.
  22. I hope I'm one of the 200. That's the only reason I bought it from the store. I wonder when/what this 20th anniversary stuff is gonna be released.
  23. That's great. After hearing his Something Like A Storm demo, I was thinking that his talent could translate well for a movie score.
  24. This is a really good album. It may not have as much of my favourite qualities of Matthew Good as some of his other releases, but it is Matthew Good's style of a more immediate rock record and there is still a lot of those qualities. Plus, I think this is probably the most cohesive, well refined album of his career. The songs have a good variety and flow really well together. The ordering of songs and album is very well crafted. It came at the right time. I thought LOES was not very cohesive and I thought it lacked in vocal passion and AOD brought some of that passion back. It's also nice to have a more straight-forward rocking album from time to time.
