  1. The Crooked Rain Reissue has all the b-sides from the album, as well as demos they recorded for it with their first drummer. A lot of it, in fact, most of it, has never been heard by any fans. Matador is billing it as "a lost Pavement record" It really was a golden era for the band, I'm hoping it will help bridge the first two albums together. I really wnat to hear the early versions of Wowee Zowee tunes like Grounded that are on it...
  2. I loved Lord of the Rings! I actually watched all 3 extended editions the other week, back to back to back. that should satisfy me for a while....anyways, they definitely aren't garbage. Star Wars was great, in fact a very close second. In fact, I'm a geek. Speaking of which, why the hell wasn't Back to the Future on this poll?! EDIT: And please, don't get into the Gandalf vs Darth Vader fight...it hurts too much.
  3. Anyone else out there love Pavement (or like them at all?)? I havent had teh money to buy the reissue of Crooked Rain Crooked Rain yet, but has anyone else picked it up? The two Pavement reissues are how all reissues should be done - reasonably priced with a mind blowing amount of bonus features, unlike weezer's Blue Album reissue, which provided songs fans had for the most part already heard for an exorbidant amount of cash.
  4. Pink Floyd is just way too pretentious for me. Sure, Zep is ridiculous as well, but with them it's just more fun. AND they were Lord of the Rings geeks.
  5. I am both excited and scared for the new weezer album. I really wnat it to be good, but I'm tired of let down by this band. New single is called 'Beverly Hills' and should be on radio March 21st! I'm also looking forward to the new Stephen Malkmus record. I really loved Pig Lib, and if his records keep getting better at the rate they are, this will be one of the best records of the year. I'm just waiting to see if he can surpass the greatness of Pavement in my eyes (ears?). Beck's new record should be out this year, too. Plus Billy Corgan's solo album. Here's hoping Billy can get it together this time. That's all I can think of right now...
  6. I had never heard any Wilco before I listened to A Ghost is Born, and I must say it is not often that I have been so moved simply by music. It instantly became one of my all time favourite records. Usually I am not inclined to "buy the hype" but I think Wilco deserves all teh praise they receive.
  7. You know there could be a ot of reasons that Matt needs to take a brake right now. I mean, he has worked a hell of a lot this year. I hope that he will still make music, as there are directions he has not yet gone that he could still take. I would love to see a straight up acoustic tour sometime. But anyways, we don't know for sure what's going on...Jen could be pregnant or something.
  8. I am an Education student with a social studies minor. Matt's blog really helped me to choose my minor, as when I read it I found myself becoming more and more interested with politics and the world around me. Matt's music has been a major part of my life since junior high when I bought Underdogs, and the blog really broadened my appreciation for him as an artist. I loved how, unlike some artists who will spill their views out anytime the press is nearby, Matt provided his readers with a very in depth understanding of why the issues he discussed were so important. I have been inspired by Matt in a way that will affect me for most of my life, especially in my career. The seeds of activism have been planted and germinating in my head, and I hope that with my own students I will be able to inspire the same feelings. Thanks for everything, Matt. It was greatly appreciated.
  9. I thought that there were no availible recordings of Pony Boy in existence, though hopefully Matt will let us hear it sometime. However, if there IS an mp3 of this somewhere, could someone let me know? Please?
  10. As this is a side project for both of them, I don't think videos are necessary. It seems like they are doing it for kicks and just enjoying making music. If it were to become a serious project however, I would hope to see some videos. - Captain Rocket
