  1. Ahh, dammit. I knee-jerked and didn't look to see where you were from. /"yeah, you heard me" suddenly doesn't sound so funny //i suck Crap. I feel like I've let you down somehow. I'll pretend I'm Canadian and we can argue about health care or something. IMO, there's too many reasons to name MGB's lack of success in America. Record label, timing, market trends, the list goes on. I just don't think that it could ever be because of the listeners themselves.
  2. I disagree with that entirely. I think the problem was that BM was the right record for 1999 and the wrong record for 2001. There was that shift towards the end of '99 when rock went aggro, and MGB wasn't part of that. BM recalled that late-90s alternative sound, something that was getting less and less airplay in the 00s. I think Atlantic (and probably the band) thought selling BM in the States would be easy, given it's track record in Canada, and discovered that it needed more of a push to break through all of the Bizkit-rock of the period. Everybody looked at each other and decided it wasn't worth the effort. Plus, if you're going to criticize the American market for not "getting" MGB, what about the Canadian market that failed to "get" either AoB or Avalanche? /yeah, you heard me Crap. 2001 you said? Ouch. That'd be another nail, I guess. I didn't criticize the American market because I absolutely can't stand the American market or anything else. It might have something to do with the fact that its the thread topic. The American Market "got it", for sure. They always do. They just didn't want to play it. I wouldn't know anything about the Canadian market, but if I had to venture a guess it would probably be that BM was so successful that it is written off as being the best they could ever do and everything else is subsequently ignored. It's happened to some of my favorite artists in other markets.
  3. I do a state government job that doesn't make the world any better, and it kills me more every day.
  4. I fell asleep, but then again in order to maintain my attention, a movie must have a dick joke at least every 12 minutes or so.
  5. Barenaked Ladies The Dears Matthew Good hell, there are more. Just too drunk to think of them and I'm an anglophile anyway.
  6. MGB was too intelligent for the American market. That isn't to say that people here are stupid, just that the people who control radio/television think they are as a result of marketing and past parental advisory concerns.
  7. I think sometimes, the mood you are in can determine whether you love or hate a song/group for a long time to come. Unless it is just crap and people like me are too lazy to hit skip and they just kind of get used to it. Thankfully, that would be different artists than mg.
  8. I'm a huge Sam Rockwell whore. However, he already played Batman in some hilarious short I saw online.
  9. Like them up to Automatic For The People, then no.
  10. You just want to hump the hate right out of em... *realizing the age* ...it's the booze talking.
  11. I like Song For The Girl in that it makes me appreciate the other ones that much more. But as growing goes, I didn't like Rico or Alert Status Red at first.
  12. It is the very movie. I have checked the children, and found it highly regrettable.
  13. Jimmy Eat World has a song called "Over" off their new EP. It's anti-love a bit.
  14. People I know online would discuss him. I got curious and asked where I should start. Two weeks later, Amazon.ca sent me Avalanche and it didn't leave the player for a long time. I'm only now discovering his back catalog, and apparently he's kicked ass for quite some time now.
  15. This just means I'll have to take my shoes off at the airport even more.
  16. This season is probably the best since season 2. They are actually doing things with the characters, it seems. J.D. is looking for more serious relationships, Turk and Karla are trying to have a baby, etc. Neil Flynn is an improv genius. It's great watching the DVD outtakes of him making the cast crack up.
  17. Then She Appeared (Demo Version) - Andy Partridge
  18. When A Stranger Calls. I myself can't say I've seen the entire thing. After an hour, absolutely nothing had happened. It was boring, trite, and it seemed like a two hour long ad for cell phones. The worst tooth pull of a movie I've seen in quite some time. The original was made on something of a 20 dollar budget but was actually scary. For what you would pay for seeing this movie, you could buy the old one and maybe some beer. See, I'd say this is my opinion but this movie was so terrible that I don't believe anyone could like it. If you do, I'm sorry I insulted the movie you made. Anyone else have any warnings? I'm particularly on edge whenever I go down the street to the cinema.
  19. Shame On You - Hot Hot Heat Don't like the song, but my entire music collection is running to burn in my new headphones and it happens to be on this one. It'll be further along the alphabet next time, I suppose.
  20. ...I like reading the web page. Except one time I was reading it and there were skinned animals and to make a long story short I haven't had whatever I was eating at the time since. But I like reading it. Edumacational.
  21. I've always liked XTC's "The Wheel and The Maypole".
  22. Scrubs. Represent.
  23. I guess it's totally hilarious when compared to the rest of that train wreck of a show. Some idiots did a "West Coast" version of it. I didn't know there were degrees of not laughing, but this proved it went to 11.
