  1. I'm not one of those fans who's been around since day one, but owning all of his albums today and trying to convert ignorant Irish ears, I suppose I would call myself a reasonable fan of Good's. However, I find it slightly unnerving that I'm beginning to feel anxious about what is to come from him, musically. I would be of the opinion that his best work was with the Band, culminating in the beautiful Audio of Being release. Since then - I don't know - Good's music seems to lack that "X" factor that previous releases had in such abundance. My fears initially began when I found myself skipping tracks off Avalanche - something I had never done with an MGB record. When it came to the Band, it never crossed my mind to skip a track, and it was therefore no surprise to have a new favourite song almost every other week. Then came along White Light Rock & Roll Review, and I found myself unable to come to grips with what I was presented with. No, I certainly didn't feel the glow of commerce. The sound was quite repetitive; the music basic at best. Even the lyrics, something I have always relied on Good to deliver, were toned-down and quite bland. I rarely listen to the disc. It begs the question; does Good need the Band? Perhaps they - creatively - complimented each other, or maybe the Band simply made Good look better than he actually is. Good commented in 2003 that Avalanche was everything he wanted Audio of Being to be. I, for one, am delighted that this did not happen. I recently read in one of his tiresome blogs that he feels he has written some of his best material in the past few months. If he is referring to the likes of "She's In It For The Money" and/or "If I Was A Tidal Wave", I am not looking forward to his next release, whenever that might be. In fact, since White Light, the only two 'demos' I have enjoyed have been "Agoraphobe" and "Seriously Serious". Everything else is just bland and unadventurous. Naturally, of this is my own opinion. But I'm wondering, are there any Matthew Good fans on this forum who feel similarly?

  3. My thoughts exactly. Or a computer-breaker-person.
  4. Have you been living under a rock?
  5. I couldn't agree more. It's really got nothing going for it. All the adjectives you've used describe it perfectly.
  6. If I may. [i don't post here often, but that shouldn't deflect from the actual content of the topic.] I realise that you're trying to respect Good's privacy by outlawing fans from discussing his private life on this forum. But, and, maybe it's just me, his latest blog almost encourages this. Whether he's feeling gloomy and need a pick-me-up from dozens of adorning fans or not isn't important, he posted something that let his fans delve into his personal life; it's as relevant to be discussed here as is his new MySpace account IMO. Furthermore, such personal trauma will almost undoubtedly affect his next album's mood and/or concept. Surely fans are allowed to discuss and muse about something that could have a huge bearing on his next project. I have no personal interest in discussing his life; I don't care to because I'm more concerned with my own life and others' who directly affect mine. But others may feel differently, and should be allowed to voice their concerns/opinions on the matter. Good started the discussions with his blogs. If he wanted people to know what was going on behind-the-scenes with him, my opinion is that people should be allowed to address the issue. - Corm [if you feel the need to lock and/or delete this topic, I would appreciate at least a PM.]
  7. I think my life is complete now.
  8. Well, I stumbled across the below lyrics on some Geocities fansite, and having done some searches on these forums, I can't seem to find the info I'm looking for; was this the standard version of Suburbia live when it was played, or simply done one or two times? And, as the typical question follows, is there a recording lying around anywhere? - Corm Sweet I'm sleepy it feels like the real thing the doctors are confident the pills will always win it's like constantly travelling but you don't see a thing and the parts of you forgotten are all unearthed That night we were hopeless and dead on our feet the bombs started falling we walked out to the street and waited for confidence cause surely it's given only at the last minute so you can die living
  9. Yup, got it in one.
  10. A bigger fan could correct me, but isn't this the original name for The Fine Art of Falling Apart?
  11. Agreed. As albums go, it's pretty sexy.
  12. Did you stop playing it after the second song or something? There's some great songs on that album, I really think it's mightily underrated; Gas Panic! , Sunday Morning Call, and Roll It Over are fantastic. And that's coming from someone who wouldn't call themselves an Oasis fan.
  13. I fucking aced Algebra and Calculus. The only thing that surprises me is I'm not out getting wasted in celebration.
  14. That's what overwhelmed me; the screaming. The reason I asked was because in my War All The Time CD I could have sworn I got some sort of 'Thank You for supporting Canadian music' leaflet, but it might have been a dream, as I can't find it now. So, is Full Collapse worth investing in?
  15. I remember posting a couple of years ago on TBR that I thought War All The Time was one of the worst albums that I had ever bought. I've changed my mind; it's pretty hott as albums go. Now, my question; are they Canadian?
  16. I've got eight in the next couple of weeks. Two this Friday, and then after that, I can't really remember the timetable, but I have it somewhere on a crumpled sheet of paper. I spent 38 minutes earlier today looking for a copybook. When that proved unsuccessful, I decided that was my work done for the day. On a brighter note, the exams are over on May 8, so, I'll start studying then or something for the repeats.
  17. Well, time-wasting is a good way to waste time I suppose. Someone called Delicious Vodka, as in; are they in jail for the murder of their parents?
  18. Ugh. That was just a waste of time.
  19. Those damn double posters...
  20. Empty Road; I feel nothing when it plays, and while I'd never go as far as to skip it, I do find myself singing another song in my head while it plays.

  24. I voted Future is xRated, I just love its concept and there so many powerful lines on screen; "outlined in chalk, everyone looks the same" for one. On a side note, who's the guy behind the piano in Weapon's video?
  25. That was harsh lol. He's doing some people a favour by making them read the news. But some of us read the blog for the sake of intelligent commentary on the news. I love being made do things.
