  1. this post is solely so that i can save up enough nf$ to buy the song and join the conversation.
  2. i kind of disagree. i mean, i agree that you need to convince the public that you know what you're talking about, but i think it has less to do with charisma, and more with age. the age of your party. not the HISTORY of your party, but how long you've been around for. harper was the leader of the canadian alliance, remember? how well did he do there as compared to how well he's done as a conservative. aaaah. time to bring my own politics in. 1st point: i think that the entire voting system is flawed.
  3. $50 for both. sweety, it's one cd.
  4. how could anyone mistake that for radiohead? not only do the vocals make no sense as thom yorke, but if radiohead covered be quiet and drive i highly doubt it would be acoustic.
  5. i am a DIE HARD coffee drinker, but i make the exception for yogi tea's throat comfort tea. tastes great AND it gives you your voice back after the third sip. plus, each tea bag has a little "fortune" or whatever on it.
  6. haha that was awsome Lauren, i applaud you from my distant locale. Yah so Xmas has changed from a bunch of bible lovin' folks celebrating a dead man they worship toooooooooooooooo materialistic, consumption of mass proportions merely supporting elite interests and filling that gap of guilt you get since you've been socialized to feel said way if you dont consume for your loved ones. I'd say instead of getting her diamonds this year, make her something that will take her breath away. And yes i am parodying that dumb diamond comercial. like smothering her with a pillow? (wink wink)
  7. my favorite part was judd's little speech at the end. when he called them scumbags for the fourth time and then said he can't wait to be part of the jury because he'll have more to say at the vote for the winner. honestly, i never liked him. i really liked gary's idea of playing with integrity: taking the best four to the final four, not just bringing someone everyone hates into the final two so that you'll get all the votes.
  8. Ian Browne's the drummer on the debut CD. ;) hot. i always wondered what happened to him after dave started working without him.
  9. aaah. i spelled ceiling wrong and i can't edit it!! if there happens to be an administrator or moderator or whatever you call the people with all of the power in this thread would you mind fixing it for me? it makes my face turn red. this is the second ei ie problem i've had on this message board and i don't want people to have the wrong impression of me.
  10. everytime i take the sky train i get this song stuck in my head, because it says "built in bc" in huge blue letters up the side of it.
  11. how about "no. christmas cards are a waste of money. just give me the four bucks and i'm half way to a pack of smokes"?
  12. i think so too. and, no, most albertans do not like harper. in fact, i see him as the slimiest of all of them. i've never voted liberal, though, because despite their trustworthy appearance, they're all money grubbing liars. and snobs. i think the liberals are very snobby. none of that, though, has anything to do with politics, and i'm considering leaving my politics out of this discussion until it gets heated. funny note, though, from tuesday's province: "The Times offered an equally uncharitable assessment of the two major party leaders - Martin and Conservative Stephen Harper. "'Neither candidate is particularly charismatic, and neither has captured the public imagination,' the paper wrote." is it only in america, or are there actually canadians out there who consider "charisma" a serious election issue?
  13. people crackers for animals = awesome the fido commercial, i totally agree with you manfromharoldwood. it's true that people are sheep and blah blah blah and it's so trendy to be non conformist. but it's something that media and especially big business don't talk about. it's kind of an unspoken thing that as long as no one acknowledges it directly in their marketing or advertising people will continue to follow each other. big business has the public under thier thumb as long as you don't outright tell that public that they are under your thumb, right? or so we thought. fido did. and people think it's cute.
  14. i was kidding.
  15. Haha, that's so true! And because of this many extremely lonely male neighbors are dissapointed. not so. a man named bob used to live downstairs from me in alberta when my boyfriend and i first hooked up a few years ago. downstairs bob loved avalanche. if avalanche wasn't on, downstairs bob would hit his ceiling with a broom until we turned it on.
  16. one of my all time favorites
  17. oh, so many. first thing i loved about the matthew good band was the lead singer's ability to put words next to each other. from manifestos: "You will be dead much longer than you will be alive. This is the truth of things. Better get used to the idea. The lives of men and women, cats and dogs, birds and fish are merely hiccups in an endlessness that will never be fully realized by anyone. You are here now and will be gone in some years, months, perhaps even days or hours. The execution of this plan will never change, even though you will do your best to convince yourself otherwise. You merely feed off the scraps of words and wares consolidated by those that came before you. You are a thing void of structural integrity. Like anything built or born, you will eventually succumb to either the weight of the world or the weight of walking it. This is the only thing you ever need come to terms with. That eventually you will be lost. They will lose you. You will be forgotten and never heard from again. And no one will ever know the story that was your life. You will be dead much longer than you will be alive, to boot." "life is like bread. it's great at first and as time passes it gets harder." "the future is time's true face. because like time itself, it remains undetermined and wholly represented by nothing more than a word and the unshakable fact that it's lying in wait, spiced with rumor." "life would be like a tom robbins novel on uppers and everyone could stop pretending they have somewhere to go. i don't have anywhere to go. there, i said it. not one single goddamn place. my name's matt and i have nowhere to go. though, come to think of it, water slides would be alright. either that or six flags. roller coasters, above all things, are my greatest love. but, rather ironically, they don't really go anywhere either." and, finally, this is one of my favorites: "sometimes you don't sleep right. sometimes you pace around battling three hour long panic attacks trying to calm yourself down. you talk to yourself in that little voice of yours, cracking jokes, making it seem silly. everything gets blury and eventually your hands stop wringing because they hurt, you've just noticed. you collapse on o the couch and sit there, inhaling and exhaling. the most primary of functions. and then you fall asleep. tomorrow night you get to do it all over again. the funny thing is, you don't know why it happens. you've never been able to tfigure that out. it just does. and it continues to. from your childhood, when you used to sleep walk and then start screaming so uncontrollably that they put you on medication, to yesterday which was just another link in the chain. thei night brings you things to say that are all part of a big inside joke, our destruction, your creation, the people that fit together inside you like a puzzle to make up your memory. it's the day to day business of making sure that there's amess to clean up and then another mess to take it's place. so you come to like it. it begins to make sense. maybe it always did. and from that comes all that defines you in a deal-with-the-devil package. maybe not so good. maybe good enought to be passable. years later you can't remember when you had a choice in the matter. you just do. and are."
  18. phish did that cover i heard that was a lie. but i guess if it's on the internet it must be true.
  19. i wonder how he feels about being referred to as "matty" in this thread
  20. some people listen to music for "setting the mood" types of reasons. some people do it so that their room mates or neighbors don't have to listen to them doin' it.
  21. what does it matter? what are you doing over christmas? like any one has better plans...
  22. absolutely! who are thse people who walk in a circle? who runs with no destination but to go back home? or, worse yet, runs and walks on a machine? just GO someplace, dammit. what's the best way to spoil yourself?
  23. who did that wicked gin and juice cover? oh, i want to find that song!!
