Yes, tell us what you meen. already did. i meant unheard of, not signed to a major label, no big distribution deals, that sort of thing. but, hey, if you want to use this time to plug the new mariah carey record i won't stop you. -
top five i'd say: 1. avalanche 2. underdogs 3. loser anthems 4. beautiful midnight 5. audio of being wow. that was actually a lot harder than i thought it was going to be.

reading some of these other threads, i put on some AOB and mariah carey'd my ass through "the rat..." for the first time in a long time, and i'm sorry. i really should've put that on the list. EDIT: i actually ripped it up so good that nice man in the apartment next to mine banged on the wall so hard that a picture fell off. woohoo.

Why Is No One Talking About What Just Happened?

can't speak for everyone, but i think maybe the rest of the class would like a chance to see his side of the argument. can't speak for matthew, but it seems to me, if i were in his position, i think i'd like all the kiddies who read the things scot wrote to read my clarification. just a thought. i don't know. -

oh wow, i feel like such a gossip whore, but i wanna know too! hahaha. i posted in that topic! i don't understand, if you build a message board dedicated to all things matthew good and HE comes along and gets into a cyberscrap with some kid, regardless of who's fault it is, why not just leave it up? matthew's a big boy. he can hold his own. -

absolutely right. i meant unheard of. but i'm old. i come from an age when if you didn't have a record deal you didn't get heard by many. -
Religion Itself Is The Fount Of Most Evil
josiegross replied to supercanuk's topic in Politics and Debate: WRONG!
while i whole-heartedly agree that religion is often a sheild governments and people hide behind in attempts to justify things that aren't generally acceptable to the majority, i have to just as passionately dissagree with blaming religion itself as "the root of all evil". atheism, the absence of religion, is a religion in and of itself. religion is just a word you put on a series of ideas that are common to a specific group. seriously. if george w. bush were any sort of christian, he never would've attacked the middle east. he did. okay, he screwed up. according to his own bible God speaks through the earth. God warns his people they need to stop what they're doing through natural disasters of apocolyptic proportions. still this man continues to argue he is doing the work of God? whether you believe in christianity or not, it isn't his religion that has him blowing up children. his religion clearly told him to stop. i think that people as cowardly and selfish as the bush administration will use whatever excuse works. if they're talking to enron, it's oil and money. if they're talking to new yorkers it's 9/11. if they're talking to the red states it's Jesus. and i think it's just plain COLD to blame religion for the problems of the world. people are shitty and selfish and mean. now if dick friggin cheney is a religion, i'll agree with that whole "root of all evil" thing. as far as this seperation of church and state business, that's not the decision of our elected officials, and it's not your decision. it's the choice of the majority. in fact, it's kind of a non-issue in the sense that we can agree with the laws we agree with and disagree with the laws we don't, fuck whether or not they coincide with a religious belief. just because you're pro-life doesn't make you a christian, even though the majority of christians are pro-life. see what i'm saying? -
that's awesome

The Project For The New American Century
josiegross replied to Ravenous Yam's topic in Politics and Debate: WRONG!
in all fairness, as i understand it, the UN, when told to fuck themselves, agreed without much reservation -
the united states of america has closed it's borders to canadian poultry because of a single case of avian flu found on a bc farm, and despite the fact that every bird on that farm has been since slaughtered. i used to see myself as extremely political and the most learned of all my friends, but would someone please explain to me why canada and the usa engage in trade in the first place? the united states government rejected our beef after what turned out to be a mad cow problem 1% the size of their own, they've refused to pay us back the billions of dollars the NAFTA commission told them they owe us in softwood lumber tariffs, and now this. what do they have that we need so badly? why do we have to trade with them at all? oh yeah, and now they've passed the ever controversial bill allowing drilling in the arctic wildlife refuges our governments jointly agreed to protect. when you go to play at another kid's house, and he steals all your toys and won't let you play with any of his, you pack up your shit, call your mommy and go home. right?

what are some of your favorite independent bands? matthew good fans have pretty good taste in music i'd say. i love to discover new bands i haven't heard before, so post your recommendations here: drive by punch: http://www.drivebypunch.com is my favorite (and if you live in vancouver canada, and you haven't got any plans this weekend, i SERIOUSLY suggest you come down to pub 340 on cambie and hastings this saturday and check it out.)

downloading blues has no swearing. and i think its my new favorite song.
-
ha ha ha, that's what i was looking for! truth be told, i sing and dance around in my underpants to all of them.
-
i'm a very big fan of acoustic verions. VERY big fan. like on the acoustic version of near fantastica, the beginning is so much like the old old old matthew good but the song itself seems to follow his own evolution. side note: i don't know if you all were around in the days of the manifesto, but i think one of the best things about avalanche (the record) was seeing those songs that he promised us years ago come to life.

...or i guess, playing air guitar in your underpants. it's really the underpants that make the difference here...
