  1. Whatever... A venue that serves alcohol and features live music after the sun goes down. Call it what you want. This is pretty much what I was getting at with my initial comment.
  2. I was unaware that being drunk at a nightclub was an indication of addiction. Way to pass judgement. I didn't stick around. How was the show?
  3. Anyone going to the red deer show tonight? Message me. I'll be in red deer in an hour and if anyone interesting is going, I'll check it out. Haven't seen Matt good in years.
  4. geoff has mentioned why he left the band, there's no need to speculate.
  5. ...and you'll lose out to a guy who entered once, out of sheer boredom. because thats how the universe works.
  6. shut the fuck up, guys.
  7. 1st base is manual penetration. 2nd base is oral 3rd base is sexual intercourse home run is ass to mouth
  8. so we have 5 as it stands.
  9. i'm in. a few of us did one a couple seasons ago. it was kind if lame to be honest, but none of us were really into it... and because of the lack of interest, there was essentially 3 or 4 all-star teams which takes the fun out of it. we would need at least 10 teams to make it worth while.
  10. i thought it ended sept 1
  11. thats fucking pathetic.
  12. "sleepwalk with me" and "the entrepreneur's guide to sewn product manufacturing" ....at the same time
  13. never read them and i've been here for... 6 years.
  14. drunks have the ability to alter their path through coordination and gravity, and you have to travel a fairly vast distance in order for the effect to take place.
  15. one of my biggest fears is being away from my family when disaster strikes. thankfully this wasnt any closer to the mainland and no one was affected... because im a few thousand kms away right now.
  16. someone correct me if i'm wrong, but isnt this most recent album the last of his obligation with Universal? saturnine, you're absolutely right, artists tour to support their most recent work, but that doesn't mean that he couldn't be throwing a new song onto the setlist at each venue with the intent of recording it for next album. technically speaking he's not releasing anything, just taking the opportunity to prepare his next album while touring his current one. regarding the OP's speculation regarding venue dates, don't look too much into it... the hall is booked for 6 days prior to his show as well as the days following. red deer is right in the middle of calgary and edmonton, so it was either lay over in edmonton for a few days or skip it. there's 4 days in between the end of his alberta tour and the start of his BC tour, so this is the point where he'll probably go home. it's a 45 min flight to kelowna from vancouver.
  17. the concept of a private show is pretty cool, but 20 people in a full sized venue sounds retarded.
  18. yes sir. i paid $80 for a pair of hip tickets last night, and hour and half before the show. they were selling for $80 each at the door.
  19. whoa, he is playing in some obscure little towns. regarding the business: the promoters pay him to play the show. matthew will make the same amount of money whether the promoter sells 30 tickets or 3000. from that money, matt has to pay his band and his crew. from what i understand, he owns all of his own equipment. aside from that, the venue makes money by booking the site and selling booze... the promoter makes money by selling the tickets, the ticket issuer makes money through the service charges and the act makes extra money by selling merchandise. true that physical album sales are down due to digital download, but in comparison, the artist earns more money in residual/royalty income by way of digital media than they do/did selling physical media. every label is different, depending on the type of agreement they have with the retailer, and likewise with the talent, but i think the income per download is something like 70% during the avalanche tour, i know what he was bringing per date and what his band was earning, and judging from the locales on this tour, i'd say now he's nowhere near that. like less than half. touring is and always will be the main source of income for any performer.
  20. http://web.me.com/kawphy/Headspace/Audioph...Audiophile.html contact the author of this blog... he might be able to help you.
  21. good thing i didnt run out and buy a new computer last week... the entire imac lineup is quad core now.
  22. very nice.
  23. faster in terms of what? will i see a difference in day-to-day usage? i suppose the extra $220 isnt too much of a premium for the higher performance, but i'm just curious.
