  1. Bill Frisell; Unique, inspriring, and accessible jazz musician who incorporates many contemporary styles into his playing. Good for non-jazz listeners to help breed styles into your ear. E.S.T.; a fresh band (piano based) who also utilizes many genres to compose alternate styles of jazz and rock. Check 'em out.
  2. Wondering if i could find fans of rock band Genesis. Either early progressive rock group [Gabriel(Selling England/Lamb/Nursery Cryme)] utilizing varied instrumentation and unique composure of said musicianship or either Collins-era Pop/rock 80's style version of the band with catchy licks and although a complete juxtapostion of earlier art-rock Genesis, artsy-pop and creative in it's own right version. If fans are out there and would like to voice favorite or enjoyed albums, please express. currently listening to: -The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway -A Trick of The Tail
  3. Under a Glass Moon - Dream Theater
  4. for another beautiful song check out "entangled" by Genesis
  5. matt's the best.
  6. I think the acoustic releases
  7. omniscent song. very beautiful
  8. GB can be really useful for quick, easy recordings. I've recorded some projects for my classes in it and it works well if you really want it to. Naturally it's not the best program for recording and it's ideal to have and Mbox wit ProTools but using GB doesn't mean it has to sound bad. I would suggest using natural reverbs when recording voice rather then the GB effects. (try recording in a bathroom) A project I did in GB for my arranging class> www.distant-light.com/documents/allblues.mp3

  10. eternal sunshine was really creative in it's writing and execution. charlie kaufman and michel gondry are a match made in heaven. and also jim carrey is awesome (canada style).
  11. to me truffle pigs is for a lot of lyrical reasons but also for the "Jen, I'll bring them to their knees" line. to me, thats really romantic. surburbia too.
  12. I do too. theyre good.
  13. I'm wondering if ya'll have ever heard Chris Cornell's (Soundgarden) 1999 solo release 'Euphoria Morning' I heard it about a year after it came out and I really fell in love with it, the writing and unorthodox production make it more than worthwhile in my opinion (also, I don't say "ya'll.")
  14. you know whats good? matthew good.
  15. that's the man
  16. I heard strange days when I was in high school about three years ago and really loved the lyrics and the powerful sincerity of his voice. I bought Audio of Being first and it's still probably my favorite cd, tied with Beautiful Midnight and Dream Theater's SixDegreesInnerTurbulence.
  17. I meant re-occuring words or phrases like how rat is in 'rat who could be king' and apparitions load(ed) - Rico, Load me up, Born to Kill Pink - PrimetimeD, nearfantastica, invasion I got me.. - hello time bomb (two in that song), Man of action ( I think two there as well) stuff like that see? its not totally pointless also, don't you love my occasional capitilization rule? i dO.
  18. Ok, we all know the style of his lyrics and we can all attest to hearing words like 'rat, loaded, pink,' and phrases like 'I got me .., I ain't ) Can anyone think of any more? (Ooo, how fun!)
  19. oo, i'm glad I can comment on this cause I love and hate this song I think the first 50 seconds of Rico and every subsequent verse is just really not my style. It's dry and I think somewhat cheesy and the lyrics are too much like a film noir. however, the choruses in the song and the lines right before each chorus are some of my favorite things ever. (especially the drum parts in 'anything you want me to') and the song even has a sighting of the word "loaded' which of course is a total MG word.
  20. I love the effect of headphones, like being submerged in the music but also driving with the windows down or looking out the window at the rain ohhhh its awesome.
  21. do you have recommendations on what NIN to listen to? I've only heard 'Hurt' and 'Closer' (love the production and execution of both) thanks!
  22. I thought Futurama was good because of the deep character development but Family Guy is just crazy funny most of the time.
  23. I wanted to know if there was anyone who had an opinion about the short lived, four season HBO sketch show, Mr. Show, (David Cross & Bob Odenkirk). For those of you who don't know, it was a clever and enigmatically arranged show in the vein of SNL/KidsInTheHall but uniquely had all the sketches tie in with one another. Ok, lets see what people think! (btw, I think it's good) (but i'm not important) (but it is good.)
  24. yea, I see what you're saying. I agree with the relationship to the pixies. I relate the earlier demo work to a slight country/folk-esque Ryan Adam's 'Love Is Hell' approach. Appreciating and enjoying all the directions of his works, I most love the constant complexity and subtle personality of the lyrics from early early work to work with R Dahle. Thanks for your input man, its good to hear other peoples opinions.
