Guitar Help - Tuning Low E To D.

Dont have a electronic tuner yet. I'm trying to play "The Messenger" by Tea Party. On the tab this is what it says i need to do:

 

"TUNNING: The Tea Party has had some experiance in some

wierd tunnings. This song is in double drop D. Tune your

low and high E strings down to D. To tune down your low E,

tune it on the 7th fret, to tune your high E hit the harmonic on the

12th fret of the 4th string (D) and tune the high E to match that pitch."

 

I think i know how to do the high E part, but how do i tune the low E to D? Don't quite understand his instructions.

They're saying to play the low E at the 7th fret along with an open A and tune it that way.

 

Easiest to just play the low E and the D string together and tune the low E to match it.
