what's memory frequency? i ask cuz a few nights ago, i ended up monkeying with bios settings in a fit of 'fuck why isn't this booting right?!?!', and selected one of the default set ups. i've got my processor set back to the right speed, but before i did what i shouldn't have done, i'm pretty sure on boot ups that memory frequency read as 333. now, it reads 166. everything seems to be running fine...

if you have 166mhz ddr ram, the effective speed is doubled, thus making it 333mhz.

i remember a few years ago when i was getting a custom computer made, all i asked for was a gig of ram and the dude was like "pffft... you'll never need that"

then he asked if i needed a 500gb hard drive.

500gb + 1gb RAM

no where near enough now a days....heh

depends what you use your comp for. 1 gb of ram is more than enough for me. 500 gb hard drive, not so much.

well when Vista requires 1gb of Ram, 2gb of ram would be ideal for anything else

vista can't have my 1gb of ram.

it will take it with force and make sweet sweet love to it

Backdoor.

Vista blows, based on the systems Dell keeps sending us. Half our software shit didn't work, and most of it is Microsoft kit to begin with. XP for the win.

Yea vista still has a lot of incompatibility shit to deal with...I'd wait like a year before even attempting to run it personally. Unless I get a new pc with it already installed

The rule is generally to wait for the first service pack anyway.

Tis true.
