What's up with this?

I know it was just in his book in a sort of indirect way but does he not like them for some reason??????? ;)

I do recall him once saying that OLP's ideas were the ideas of their producers and not their own.

I think they had a little tiff. Or maybe it was just with Mike Turner, I forget.

EDIT: I sort of remember something about it in one of the MGB Bios from Much Music. Or maybe I'm just insane.

Weird though....seem like the kinda people that would get along. Them being charitable and such. I guess m.g. doesnt get along with many people.

i wish raine would pass the kidney stone that's making him grin that painful looking, idiot grin in all their videos and sing the way he does.

Clumsy was decent and even Happiness Is Not A Fish that You Can Catch is passable

Our Lady Piece is shit. Who the fuck wouldn't hate them?

Posted

I don't hate them, I rather like them. I see Geoff is cruising the scene, can you elaborate on the MG vs OLP thing?

For the record...I have jammed out a few OLP tunes...from a bassist's perspective...Geoff and Rich, make anyone trying to play their stuff, have work for it, OLP's stuff is pretty fucking easy.

That whole OLP MGB tantrum was after my time.

I heard a rumour that Raine would make the band re-do the whole set if someone fucked up in sound check.

I can dig it, Geoff. You've know doubt heard their stuff. Any opinions on Duncan Coutts' playing?

Somehow hearing that about Raine, doesn't surprise me...I've heard live stuff of theirs, and seen some excerpts from a snowjob appearance they made...They try awfully hard to be "clean"...

Duncan who? There is an art to slop...and I like to think my new band has it down pat!!! ;)

As a young'n I remember liking Superman's Dead... but to this day I can't tollerate anything with Raine Maida on vocals. Though, I suppose in a way he was the worst/best thing that could have happened to Our Lady Peace.

So when do we get to hear it???

I love OLP.

I saw them live twice. I love them. Except Gravity and most of Happiness in Paranoid times but that is in due part of fucking BOB ROCK. god I hate that guy.

I was wondering when this would get moved to the Music in General forum. Anywho, I disagree with the Naveed comment. Everything OLP has released is good until Gravity. Then it sucked. Damn Bob Rock.

I LOVED OLP.

And then I turned 13.

Seriously though, they're pretty bad. They have a few good tunes, but a lot of it is just plain terrible. I have all of their CDs except the newest one, and I've been meaning (for the longest time) to just go through my iTunes and cut out all but 2 or 3 songs from each album.

the drowning song was great. that was pretty much it.

though sometimes, in the night, i wake up in a cold sweat and chant out raine's trademark "AIE."

every song he has.

for the most part, i like their singles. and yes, their work with Arnold Lanni was better than that involving Bob Cock, erm.. *cough cough* Bob Rock.

Yes, I think Clumsy is their best album and the only one I really like from start to finish. The other albums all have a few good songs in them and that's it. Except for the last album which I haven't bothered checking out.

spiritual machines or whatever was good too. mainly because of the lock the door thing.
