How Do Recalls Work?

If Company A announces a recall on a certain product, how does that work? What do you, as a consumer, do to get your product exchanged?

I think it depends on what kind of product it is being recalled. For instance, if a part is recalled on a car, the car company will probably give the customer another car to use in the meantime.

I had a recall on my truck and they just sent me a letter telling me to come in and have that part (cruise control) deactivated until they had found a solution to the problem.

Well, according to Arnold, Recalls must all be Total.

if it's a mass recall on a normal item, you take it back to the original place of purchase and get your money back. if its a big ticket item, there's usually special instructions.

Hyphnip - haha yeah... I dont own a Wii tho. It got me thinking anyways...

 

speaking of which i've been trying to get a freggin wii for the past 2 weeks, without success.
