Anybody Who Claims To Like Music...

Download or buy (for only 10 bucks) "De-Loused in the Comatorium" by the Mars Volta. If you have not heard of them, immediately listen to this album ASAP. You will not be disappointed. A little chaotic at first but you will start to get it after a few listens...trust me.

We've actually got a topic dedicated to The Mars Volta. It's a good album, I quite enjoy it, but it's not everyone's taste in music. It's good stuff though, in my opinion.

Welcome to the Bored, by the way.

Yeah, I own the album but I'm not really a huge fan.

I love music. And I hate The Mars Volta.

I hate music, so I guess I don't have to worry about anything here.

Yeah, probably not the best title for a thread man.

I like The Mars Volta but the first album was far better than the second. We'll see what they'll come up with next.

they might be okay with a different singer.

No, they're a fabulous band. Leaps greater than At The Drive In or Sparta.

Yeah, I really didn't like those two when I gave them a listen.

I like the Mars Volta.. but only to a certain point, sometimes the 12 min songs get to be too much. De-Loused is probably my fav album by them.

At the drive is basically the same as the Mars Volta as far as band members go, isn't it ?

I think being called 'kiddo' was more of a burn.

So if I don't like The Mars Volta, I cannot claim to like music at all?

That is just fucked up, just because we all have different taste in styles of music, not liking one band, does not generalize not liking music at all.

MV = meh. kinda shitty live. Though I saw them in an arena and they are NOT an arena band.

Yeah, see I think TMV's music is creative and all even though I don't like it. But if you can't recreate the sound live or even sound good live, why be a band in the first place?

Posted

Well, I can't say I agree with that. True, they do suck live (in an arena) but that doesn't change their recorded music. If NIN had sucked live, I'd be disappointed, but I'd still love their studio music for what it is.

Most bands can't duplicate what they do on cd.

Usually, if they're better in concert, that means that they aren't too great of a band.

^and no, that's not a contradiction.

^ The thing with that is, Wintersleep is amazing on record, and even more amazing in concert, from the bootlegs I've heard. However, you did say 'usually'.

I really like the recording of Wintersleep, I haven't heard concert versions though.

Wouldn't that... Just make them an amazing show to watch, really?

Yep.

I have bootlegs of a concert in Moncton, including new songs not yet on albums...
