Matthew Good - Hospital Music

I want a house full of music and musical instruments. I rip all of my music onto my hd for making playlists and exporting music to my mp3 player (who uses portable CD players anymore? Tooooo bulky.) but nothing compares to actually listening to a CD. It sounds fantastic compared to this mp3 garbage. And I don't encode to lossless because it's huge and I don't have the hd space and my portable player won't support it.

Plus I love holding the album in my hands and looking at the artwork and stuff, and I really like supporting the musicians by buying whatever I really dig. I'll never buy shitty 128 kb/s mp3's from iTunes; that's ridiculous.

I thought his drink of choice was called a caucasian? I don't remember him refering to his alcohol as elephants.

I've missed Matt refering to animals on his records. It seems the ones with any emotional conflict have one. BM had monkeys, Audio Of Being was pigs and Avalanche was rabbits. I say elephants are a good addition to Matthew's Arc.

Underdogs and BM both had bird references.

So does LotGA (in She's Got a New Disguise), and he even has a song called "Blue Bird."

Aye, this is true.

I wonder if the word "fuck" will be in any of the lyrics.

On each album there is at least one utterance of the word fuck, and I will feel cheated if I don't get to hear it on this one.

Haha. This album is probably going to be pretty angry/depressing considering all he went through since the last record so I think you can count on some cussing.

I couldn't imagine doing 16 hour days of recording. I think when my band does their demo I'm going to insist on short days ;)

Maybe it's 16 one hour days, haha. I don't really understand how you can avoid total ear fatigue if you're really recording for all 16 hours. Last time I was in Nashville, I recorded for 10 hours a day, and even that was exhausting. Damn.

Short days get nothing done.Trust me.

I'm a dreamer, believe me

We'll probably have to wait until Summer for the album. Too long, but it'll come soon enough. Not only am I looking forward to the album, but I'm looking forward to another tour. I'm in New York and haven't gotten to see Matt Good live yet...I'm at the point now where I'm old enough and have the money to travel so when tour dates start getting announced I'm picking a date and getting a goddamn ticket. I don't care if I have to fly to Vancouver, Calgary...whatever. I'm effing going. Toronto or Buffalo would probably be ideal in terms of price and distance since they aren't that far, but I wouldn't mind going somewhere further away...after all I do want to travel the world.

I'm so pissed off that I missed the acoustic tour last year. I would have loved to hear Fine Art of Falling Apart, Sort of a Protest Song...all the songs he played LIVE and in an intimate setting. The videos on youtube are amazing. I can't let an opportunity to see him live pass me again. I wonder if he'll tour with a band again for the album or another acoustic tour...either way I'm still going.

I imagine it'll probably be up to the level of the last couple tours where he's been playing venues for 1000-2000 people, which is a perfect size concert as far as I'm concerned.
