I'm not sure that I've ever seen a really well-made horror movie.

28 Days Later is a (kinda) zombie movie... does that count?

28 Days Later is a horror film. Though when i think horror, my mind immediatly jumps to slasher flicks. That being said, Halloween 1 and Halloween H20 are easily the scariest.

My thoughts exactly. Including the 28 Days Later part.

Oh god, Saw was horrible. The movie was great leading up to the ending, then BAM horribly "unpredictable" hollywood ending.

I still don't get how the guy managed to operated the electric shock remote if he was laying in front of those dudes with his arms spread out in plain sight.

Then you guys don't know where to look!!!

I could offer a plethora of titles, but for now I will list 3 from probably one of the greatest horror directors of all time (Dario Argento):

Deep Red

Suspiria

Tenebre

(Oh, and whoever mentioned Texas Chainsaw Massacre is way wrong as far as filmmaking is concerned - if you were talking about the original that is).

Saw

The Exorcist

Silence Of The Lambs

Night Of The Living Dead series (and their remakes)

Evil Dead

Scream

Jeepers Creepers

28 Days Later

That's all I can think of right now.

OOOO OOOO Session 9! I just remembered that one. It's kind of indie, but scary as fuck. It's by the guy that directed The Machinist, if that convinces you. Ignore it if it doesnt.

Possibly my favourite is a b movie called Braindead - the script was awful, the effects were very poor and the acting wasn't really that good either but I guess thats what made it so great!

Unless there's another movie out there called Braindead, I believe you're talking about the R rated version of Peter Jackson's Dead Alive. Great movie, and I disagree strongly with you about some of the points: the script was great - it's more of a comedy than anything else and I could understand someone thinking it sucked without realizing this, the effects were good (I don't understand how you thought the effects were poor), and as far as the acting... I can't really judge that, but I think the mood came across well so I'd say that wasn't bad either. This is all just my opinion, of course.

I checked it in google and you're right - it was the R rated version of Dead alive - I didn't know that so thanks for letting me know.

However, I reiterate that I fully enjoyed the movie and found it hilarious hence it being my favourite horror movie of all time.

My favorite horror movie is Scream. Not because it's scary, but I love it because it's the first movie I saw that actually pointed out all of the horror movie cliches before it did them. And the ending suprised the shit out of me.

Oh, yeah - I was just pointing out that what you saw was most likely intended, not poor directing, scripting, etc. You should check out one of Jackson's other earlier movies called "Meet the Feebles". It's like muppets on crack. You might like Bad Taste too (and you'll really see Jackson's affinity for morbid humor).
