i've heard reports of something like 8 million in losses this year as a result of no late fees... whether or not that warrants a bankruptsy i don't know.

Yeah, I've heard it's in some trouble... thank god. Their selection sucks, the movies they do have (anything rated R or NC-17) have had a content edit, and they charge like $5 a rental... I like Hollywood video, but do most of my at-home viewing courtesy of Netflix.

Blockbuster edits films?!?!?!?!

Seriously>?

I wouldn't be surprised. I think that people either rent movies or don't. I don't think ad campaigns really compel people to rent movies more. they probably just threw a large chunk of their revenue out the window.

Yeah. It's owned by very conservative right wing types that require studios to make an edit of every film that meets their guidelines. If the studio won't, Blockbuster won't carry the movie. Most of the time, the director has no say in this type of content edit. It sucks.

I've heard of Wal-Mart doing that, but never actually reported, just people saying it. And, seeing as I don't shop there, I've never done a comparison.

I used to rent from Blockbuster all the time, didn't seem to notice any editing.

that's terrible news if it's true. roger's video has the worst selection on the planet. not to mention the fact that they don't carry VHS anymore, so if you use a VCR, you have to go somewhere else.

Yah I hate Rogers, my sister works for Blockbuster so I get free movies all the time. It rocks. So them going out of buisness i could really care less as long as I still get free movies.

why would you use a vcr?

I use it because I've got the Star Wars Trilogy [Non-Lucas raped] on VHS, and a big VHS collection.

Well, that is the point... you have to compare it to the original cut versions...

Well some of the films I've rented from there had plenty of violence, swearing, sex, etc. Their censorship must be pretty slight then.

I hope Blockbuster goes bankrupt, they deserve it. I stopped renting from them years ago. I was tired of getting ripped off and charged late fees on things I never even rented. Plus, their selection sucks. The last time I went to Blockbuster (3+ years ago) I rented the only three movies in the place I wanted to watch and I kept them for 18 months. I cut up my membership card and I won't even consider going back. I rent from Jumbo Video. They have good prices and an awesome selection of movies to rent or buy and they have free popcorn. Plus, lots of neat impulse stuff like toys, bobble head dolls, and little plush Gizmo dolls.

How are supposed to compare 'original' when everybody edits!!

How do you get the pure, unadulterated form of a movie?

Besides recording it from the theaters, or do they do that to?
