I bought Intervention off of iTunes awhile ago. It's pretty damn awesome.

I will never buy anything from iTunes. 128kb/s bitrate encoding should be illegal. I'd rather illegally download a decent quality copy of an album rather than paying for a shitty quality aac file.

I finally bought Funeral today. I've been putting it off because every time I see it anywhere it's like $25.00. Got it with Dark Side Of The Moon for $30 at HMV. 2 for $30 is awesome!

What Interpol has to do with The Arcade Fire?

Interpol are awesome too. But they're very different than each other.

I always compare the two of them. I don't really know why.

Oh, and my friend Christina put it best.

"The Arcade Fire sound like they should be catchy, but they're not. And it's infuriating."

Weird. There aren't any similarities. Interpol always get compared to Joy Divison. The Arcade Fire, I don't really know who I'd compare them to.

Interpol and Arcade Fire both had killer debuts?

The next AF album, we'll see. 'Antics' by Interpol left me a little disappointed. But yeah. Compare to talking heads or David Bowie? Those are the two I've heard a lot. 'Intervention' has a bit of a Bruce Springsteen vibe.

Well, technically, "Funeral" by AF wasn't their debut. they had an EP which fans came to call "Us Kids Know" and it's not as good as Funeral

Shiri, check out www.arts-crafts.ca/bss, BSS is where the Arcade Fire got their sound from. BSS, also has 12-14 members, however, their formula comes from whoever they can get to come help them. Which is why they have added a lot of bigger names in Canadian indie over the years.

I have heard some Arcade Fire, it's okay, nothing special though.

As for cool indie bands, here's a band that took Interpol as one of their influences... http://www.myspace.com/bandairtrafficcontrol.

Debut album. EP's are different.

I guess in a way. I still consider a bands first release to be a debut, EP or not.

Hell yeah. I wish there was as much hype about Broken Social Scene as there is about Arcade Fire.

That would definitely be cool. I guess though, part of the problem is the band is a side-project for the majority of its members, so, while all of them are on one song or another, they do not necessarily all play together live.

I know Broken Social Scene, they're nice. I'm not sure who I like better though. I'm not big AF fan, I think they're interesting and I enjoy them for the most part.

I'm listening to the new album now. It's okay so far... I haven't really made an opinion one way or another though.

Edit: I notice they re-did "No Cars Go" from the EP... It sounds pretty much the same to me though.
