Love or Hate Shakespear?

Neither. But closer to love. I think he's greatly overrated. He's certainly a great playwrite, but if he were to be placed into a modern era he would be no better than say Shaw, Shanely or Beckett. His time allowed a license to use poetics in a narrative stage context. Our time is more realist-focused and cannot use symbols/images to the same upfront extent as Shakepeare's day. With that said Shakespeare was still fucking awesome.

 

Excluding Shakespeare, who is your favorite playwrite? (if you can think of one)
